Ick. Yawn.

Dirt Merchant

1999

Why do people go to LaLaLand? To be an actor, usually. Others want to break into the music business. That's exactly why Dirt Merchant (played by Danny Masterson) left Michigan and headed west, to make it big as a record producer in Los Angeles. Wasn't quite as easy as he'd hoped.

Dirt gets fired from his entry level record company job just before his ex-girlfriend (Julie Benz) also comes to the big city. She just happens to have a position at the very same record company while Dirt slacks for awhile but finally gets hired by a process server (Tim Thomerson) working to serve subpoenas. Pretty easy work until he becomes embroiled in a murder involving a musician singer dude who also was involved with the very same record company. While being hounded by a detective (Brion James), Dirt enlists his partying slacker pothead roommates, Sly and Sponge (David DeLuise and David Faustino), to help him clear his name. Along the way they get momentarily involved with another character (Anthony Michael Hall) and Dirt gets busy with the dead singer's girlfriend (Jenna Jameson).

This little, small budget comedy was probably made without any studio or production company backing... and then it probably had a very difficult time finding a distributor. Straight-to-video? Of course! Either that or maybe it showed up on cable first and then available for renters and anyone foolish enough to buy a copy.

Oi. It had did have some good laughs but seriously I could probably be better entertained watching bricks being made. Good thing Danny Masterson had That '70s Show just becoming a popular hit 'cause just one minute of that is ten times better than 85 minutes of this.
Doesn't qualify for Worst Movies Ever but it's without a doubt pure garbage.
