"Snowman, you got your ears on?"

Twas 34 years ago today when THE greatest movie of ALL time had its grand debut before American audiences, a flick that would make Burt Reynolds a bonafide world famous movie star.

Okay, maybe it's not the greatest movie ever but it sure is a fun one with one of THE greatest songs EVER . . . and that I stand by!

East Bound and Down
from: Smokey & The Bandit (1977)
costarring: Sally Field, Jerry Reed & Jackie Gleason

I love you, Amy. Always.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh maaaaaaaaann!!!!

I'm not a NASCAR fan but anyone who says it's boring is nuts. I guess a 3-hour race can have a lot of boringness to it... but the following, from the race yesterday in Talladega, Alabama, happened to racer Carl Edwards on the Final Lap and holy freakin' moly, man, this is sweet!!!! There were a few injuries in the crowd but thankfully nothing life-threatening.

Just this... just this... just this... just this...

Two days and no new post thus no new show.

One tomorrow or Sunday night... I hope.

We'll see.

I feel like the wretched pit of hell... with a touch of plague for good measure. Okay, maybe not that bad but I'm achy, maybe also breaky, occasionally nauseous, and I can't focus on anything for that long.

So.... for now... just this...

Mutterings

No intro...

from LunaNina.com... this meme is called: Unconscious MutteringsUnconscious Mutterings

a free association game

Sugarmag is in pink :: Zoooma's in blue

The word(s)
:: and we think ... ?

01. Mourning :: a time in Germany seeing a funeral procession on the street on the way to the cemetery :: the death of the American economy under the new president.

02. Approval :: I don't need your approval; [approval] rating :: what's often needed to get something done.

03. Lotion :: Bath & Body Works :: motion

04. Pespire :: you mean "perspire"? :: spelling error? "perspire" is what it's probably supposed to be.

05. Language :: barrier :: Italian. Not sure why I thought that since I barely know Italian while I can speak some Russian, Turkish, Spanish and French. But actually I did one time start to teach myself Italian but that didn't go very far but I still have my Italiano-Americano dictionaryario.

06. Defection :: when people used to leave Societ controlled countries to come to the United States like Béla Károlyi :: what I hope occurs during the World Baseball Classic for some of the players from Communist Cuba. I hope they can seek asylum from the prisonous state they are forced to live in. Since there is no freedom in Cuba, I hope, like others before them, they can seek that which we often take for granted.

07. Play :: games; "Mommy, will you play with me?" :: [Play] baaall!!!!

08. Graphic :: details :: artist

09. Spicy :: LOL ... spicy sex; kids complaining about foods too spicy :: Enchilada ... because mild is boring!

10. In love :: they've had that one before, that's a repeat ... but of course I'm in love with you, Christopher! :: with Sugarmag

They used to shout "PLAY BAAAAAAAALL" at the beginning of the game and "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" would come during the 7th Inning... but "Play Baaaaall!" still reminds me of this song...

Lucy Ricardo is my delight; or Vitameatavegamin!

Desperately wanting to go for a run... but I'm so tired today. Didn't get sufficient sleep. Crap! I barely had the energy to put an exclamation point on the end of that one-word sentence. Seriously. This blows.

Definitely a music day, though. Tunes I'm digging/have dug today:

The Bangles? Yes, I'm weird.

One great thing about not running -- More black & white comedy from the olden days: Lucy! Hallmark Channel has on an I Love Lucy marathon: 13 hours of Fred & Ethel! I won't even bother to link I Love Lucy 'cause come on, who the heck doesn't know what I Love Lucy is! I think I read/heard once that it's the only sit-com that is on television every single half hour of the day somewhere in the world.

There was another marathon two days ago, on TVLand, so by the time today is over, just like my groovily lovely Sugarmag, I'll be a little "Lucyed out."

Mmmm, Vitameatavegamin!

R.I.P.

Movies touch us, they inform us, they get us excited, they help us laugh, they take us away, they allow us to forget. Caring so much about the lives of celebrities is quite lame... but I think it's okay to recognize those who've helped bring a little sunshine in our lives...

Ya know, I don't think I realized that Jerry Reed passed away in 2008. Smokey and the Bandit, once upon a time, was without a doubt, one of my all-time favorite movies. It's still a fun watch and this is such a cool song from the movie... check it out!

It's that time of year again...

It's December 23... so everyone knows what that means, right?

It's Festivus!

If I didn't celebrate Christmas, maybe if I was a silly secular progressive, I might say something like: "It's a Festivus for the rest of us!" HAAA!! (Actually, it's become less funny after hearing it like a billion times.)

After (or before?) the Airing of Grievances, I'm not sure if presents are given on Festivus, but if they are, my present to you right now is this 1938 Christmas cartoon from MGM...

"The Captain's Christmas"

Merry Christmas, have some high-powered rifles

Saturday Night Live alum Joe Dirt graduated from Arizona State University? Who knew?!

David Spade helps Phoenix police buy rifles

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Phoenix Police Department has gotten some high-powered goodies courtesy of actor David Spade.

The one-time Phoenix resident donated $100,000 so that the department can buy approximately 50 AR-15 rifles.

Spade said he wanted to make the donation after seeing a TV news report about Phoenix officers having to buy their own rifles. Spade grew up in the Phoenix area and graduated from Arizona State University.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Alan Hill says the rifles will be given to patrol officers and that the agency was grateful for the gifts.

"These guys need to be able to do their jobs and I am just happy I could help," Spade said in a statement released by his publicist.

Buying weapons that can kill scumbags? I wonder how many of Spade's fellow Hollyweird celebutards would've done something like this for their hometown.

Run Twist Shout

I had to make a choice today -- post a Dead show or take care of my physical health and go for a run. I chose a run.

Rest assured, more tunes'll be posted soon. Within what I hope to close out the month with, I'm hoping there'll be something that'll please everyone.

And listen, if you've got a request, feel free to send an e-mail. Sugarmag and I will be happy to do what we can to get the tunes in your ears!

The North Face trail running shoe -- good for use in the Appalachian Mountains ... but seriously, they are rather small compared to the Rocky Mountains ... Sierra Nevada are sweet, too. Would definitely use 'em in the Alps, that's for sure. One thing's for sure -- Jerry Garcia or Bob Weir or Phil Lesh or Blaise Compaoré probably never went running in Liberia, Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Probably the same with Brent Mydland. At least that's my gut feeling. I could be wrong. I mean, there were a lot of drugs at Grateful Dead shows and the good Lord above, He knows I did my share!

November:2 hours 31 min
October:2 hours 10 min
September:3 hours 25 min
August:2 hours 39 min
July:2 hours 11 min
June:1 hour 47 min

I fought myself on whether or not I was going to run today. I had to. I am not going to slack in December. The numbers have been tallied for November and while I edged out October, it was only by 1 run (or about 20 minutes, I think... I'll check it in a few minutes and adjust the chart table dealie above.)

Anyway -- being tired and having a mild back strain almost kept me from running but I got out there... and I'm glad I did. Walking to the trail I run on, I just kept a determined mind, positive thoughts. Stretch, run, good. I'm so tired now but my run went well and I'm rebuilding to 25 minutes and beyond.

Listening to 9 songs in only 22 minutes was a little crappy for some reason. 2 to 3 minute songs just isn't what I prefer. On the positive side, they all had about the perfect Beats Per Minute to allow me to run at the pace I wanted. If the music is like that then I can run without having to think about it too much without having the music want me to slow down or potentially speed up if I feel like I have enough energy to.

Anyway... if I can get out there 3 times every 7 or 8 days, December might end up being okay. I don't really want to just pass November, but beat it by 2 or 3 runs, not just 1 or less.

Only one time ever, I think, have I pressed play on The Beatles -- the White Album, a roommate's of mine, once upon a time ago in some western state far, far away. I've always seen The Beatles as irrelevant. Then again, isn't most music? They're probably not truly irrelevant but I guess to be more accurate, I just didn't care for them too much. There are lots of songs I know by them and I like 'em alright, but their albums? I just never had an interest. But finally I decided to take a look at their catalog and so I'm starting at the beginning with their debut album.

This is actually a lot better than I expected. What did I expect? I wasn't sure. Foofyness, maybe. It's a little foofy, I mean some of the harmonies are just lame and the "bop-shoo-wop" is a little too much leftover 50's for my taste. But it's still fun, I s'pose. I amn't totally hating this.
