Tuesday Post: D.C. Dog Run Boston Bar Band

I'm so tempted to talk politics... but I don't wanna... but it bothers me so much! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH OUR GOVERNMENT?!?!

Tax crook Tom Daschle (former Senator from South Dakota) withdrew his name from becoming the next Secretary of Health and Human Services. It's still amazing that had he not withdrawn (or wasn't forced to withdraw) he would have been confirmed.

Ethics, for this new administration, had been thrown out the window. Through it all with Geithner and now with Daschle, many Democrats completely stood by their men. "Just a harmless mistake" has been said concerning the tax problems for both men. "Just mistakes." These [insert bad name here] tax cheaters aren't being held to a higher standard than the American citizen. The only reason Daschle isn't going through isn't because he's a crook but because it would be a distraction to the Obama administration. It's all just sick.

Happier stuff: check out this Bernese Mountain Dog...

I love this breed!

Probably can't (very easily) find these puppies in a shelter.

Check out tons o' pics here.

TIE-DYE SEPARATOR BAR
The North Face trail running shoe -- good for use in the Appalachian Mountains ... but seriously, they are rather small compared to the Rocky Mountains ... Sierra Nevada are sweet, too. Would definitely use 'em in the Alps, that's for sure. One thing's for sure -- Jerry Garcia or Bob Weir or Phil Lesh or Blaise Compaoré probably never went running in Liberia, Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Probably the same with Brent Mydland. At least that's my gut feeling. I could be wrong. I mean, there were a lot of drugs at Grateful Dead shows and the good Lord above, He knows I did my share!

I didn't spend a whole lot of time out on the trail today -- out and back. Good news: I added on to my chopped down time from my previous run. Bad news: I quite possibly shouldn't have run due to a somewhat nagging sore throat that may turn into me being sick again. But more good news: I ran! Since I keep track of my running time on a monthly basic, at the beginning of each month when I start over at 0 minutes and 0 seconds, it feels like a tremendous climb to an endless mountain to be able to top my previous month's running time. Today I started at 0:00 and I have a long way to go to hit the three hour mark... but it's not just three hours that I want to run in February -- I want four. We'll see.

Old Aerosmith is not exactly my bottle of beer. Using this album for running for 23 minutes -- it worked just fine. But overall, I'm not really loving this.

One song on here -- Dream On -- lasted through the decades but other than that, nothing else had a ton of radio success. Now radio success doesn't an album make, I'm just a-sayin'. Steven Tyler's voice sounds so weird on a bunch of these songs, more like Ian Astbury of The Cult than like himself. Mama Kin is interesting in that I never heard it by Aerosmith before, only the cover version by Guns 'N Roses. I think I prefer circa 1989 GnR but it's not bad here. Judging by a few songs here, it's a wonder that Aerosmith ever made it out of Boston bars and into national limelight.

Move over Cherry Garcia

The other day I was talkin with my good friend Sugar Mag about ice cream... and of course the craving for some arose... I fought it off.

Ice cream is purely an unneeded luxury expense in life, one which a huge part of me just does not like to make -- A) it's unhealthy and it contributes to America's obesity epidemic and B) when so many in this world have nothing, a conflict boils within me concerning spending on myself versus giving to those in need. Which is more important? Certainly the lives of those who suffer.

But sometimes I've just got to spend on myself, a little bit at least -- I caved and I went to buy some ice cream. It's always just plain old desire that takes me over. Happy I will not be until I have a carton in my freezer... or in my fridge softening up and waiting for my spoon.

I swear I could eat this stuff morning, noon, and night... and set my alarm clock to wake up at 3 a.m. for another helping.

Problem in the store is there are too darn many great flavors to choose from.

This is what I got today...

BREYERS REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER CUP ICE CREAM

Mmmmmm.... soooo good! But as great as that is, I was looking for something else. Couple days ago, I think while watching the FOX NEWS CHANNEL, I heard about a brand new flavor from Ben & Jerry's...

Move over Jerry Garcia, it's John Lennon's time - Ben & Jerry's Imagine Whirled Peace

Imagine Whirled Peace ... damn, not in stock yet. Damn! That was about how long I was upset until I just grabbed the Breyers Reese's Peanut Butter Cup ice cream and split. I'll be keeping an eye out for the new B&J flavor 'cause who wouldn't want to eat some peace?! Plus ain't it finally time for that Jerry Garcia guy to just fade away already!

One question, though -- who's this John Lennon dude?!?
