Republican Propaganda?

It's sad that people who watch Fox News are labeled as idiots. It's also sad that people have decided that Fox News is "predetermined biased crap." It's not. There are no orders from the top to let people only hear Republican points of view. They often (but not always) give viewers the other side of an issue which allows viewers to make up their own mind based on those two sides. Some people don't like that, they don't like that the general population hears the opposing point of view. If it was up to them, people would only hear what they want them to hear. Anything else is threatening to what they want and what's threatening must be bad and denounced. The ends justify the means -- denounce always, denounce drastically, even if it's not true. It doesn't matter if they lie about Fox News because they've accepted that's it's better to run with the lie and look down their noses at people who don't think their way. I have so much respect for people who can discuss in a civil manner. Unfortunately some people begin showing their elitism and feel it's perfectly fine to display meanness when it comes to anyone who thinks differently. That's not right.

And here's an example of "predetermined biased crap." It would make sense, according to some, that this guy talking would be preaching the Republican party line, right?

He's a Democrat.

President Failure

... one year later:

Hmmm... Fox News Channel but no Republican propaganda.
But . . . but . . . that's what some people think Fox News is.
If they'd actually just watch and have an open mind,
they'd see that's an irrational myth.

The Sad, Sad Truth

clip from Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld on the Fox News Channel

Exemplifies (with some humor) the far left
who want to suppress all dissent while making sure everything
Republican and/or Conservative appears to be evil and wrong.

Sidenote: interestingly, more people in America identify themselves
as either Conservative or Moderate than Liberal. Hmmmm.

Don't get me wrong, liberal is okay . . . but the far left loons,
they won't get American anyplace good. Join the middle, folks!
(and stay away from Media Matters . . . they don't matter at all.)

Broken Promises

National security, in the spotlight again, is way more important than health care but it's fascinating the way Congress wants to move forward with this fiasco. The nimrods on Capitol Hill are so pathetically self-serving. Absolutely disgusting.

Clueless Prez

Barack has no deaf-ense for a tin ear

By MICHAEL GOODWIN
Last Updated: 7:38 AM, December 17, 2009

Of all the surprises of President Obama's first year, the biggest is his continuing tin ear for the mood of the country. He often appears clueless about what Americans want.

Almost from the moment he stepped into the Oval Office, the man who smashed the Clinton machine and won an electoral landslide over John McCain seemed to lose his touch with the people who put him there.

Some days, many days, he doesn't look like he cares that big chunks of the country, left, right and center, are giving up on him.

Voters by a large margin have said for months they don't want the health-care overhaul he's pushing, so he pushes harder. They want less spending and debt, so he doubles down on pork, bailouts, handouts and taxes.

They thought he would deliver bipartisanship, and he gives his hard-left allies the keys to the kingdom.

They worry about terrorism, so he wants to close Gitmo and move the worst of the worst to the homeland. With Ground Zero still a mess, he gives the 9/11 plotters civilian trials in New York.

His approval ratings are speeding downhill and some 60 percent say the country is on the wrong track. He responds by giving himself a "good solid B-plus" for his first year.

And he says Wall Street bankers "don't get it."

It comes as no surprise, of course, that our young president has a very, very high opinion of himself. But it is nonetheless shocking he remains so brazenly self-righteous in the face of growing public discontent.

A damn-the-torpedoes style of leadership would be welcome if he were an optimist brandishing an inclusive, sunny-side up vision. He's not. He's too often testy, churlish and downright whiny.

His vision is little more than a string of gauzy utopian platitudes glued together with fear, as when he told fellow Dems yesterday that the flawed health-bill represented "the last chance" for reform.

The last chance? Forever?

His charge that bankers have an obligation "to help rebuild the economy" by making more and presumably riskier loans boggles the mind. Low standards are the hair of the dog that led to liar loans and other housing disasters. By all means, let's do it again.

When something goes wrong, it's not his fault. "Fat-cat bankers," "greedy" insurance companies, doctors who do amputations just for the money, special interests, the media -- the media! -- have all taken their turns being blamed for what he hasn't fixed.

The buck doesn't stop on his desk!

If all other scapegoats fail, there's always George W. Bush. Pressed during last Sunday's "60 Minutes" interview on his decision to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, Obama shared his pain and slandered Bush -- all to distinguish his troop surge from his predecessor's.

"One of the mistakes that was made over the last eight years is for us to have a triumphant sense about war," Obama said. "There was a tendency to say, 'We can go in. We can kick some tail. This is some glorious exercise.' When, in fact, this is a tough business."

So even when he reaches the same conclusion as Bush, pursues the same enemy, relies on the same commanders and the same Defense secretary, it's different.

Why? Because he says so.

Way to go Helen! / Run

I've never thought highly of Helen Thomas but when she's fed up at the Obama administration that's pretty telling. She's an uber-liberal who, as far as I know, has kissed Obama's ass like most of the rest of the mainstream media. Here she is, along with Chip Reid of CBS News, questioning the integrity of an Obama administration Town Hall event about healthcare in America. What's being questioned is the idea of the president using Pre-selected questions. That will allow him to skate through with ease and make his agenda look good. It's not right to have nobody challenging this healthcare agenda that the president wants to force upon us. Is this the presidency that 53% of the voters voted for? It's all about control -- Control the people, look good, if possible don't allow them to question hard and challenging questions. What happened to transparency? That was just another lie.

With Obama throwing money at everything, he has caused the deficit to skyrocket and there's simply no end or relief in sight. His ideas cost a LOT of money and this is America where Raising Taxes is not wanted by a majority of the people. (Is that foolish thinking?! Should people be wanting to pay higher taxes? That's insanity not to mention it's UNamerican.) When taxes are raised/people's cost of living escalates higher than it is today, then there will be severe backlash against those responsible for that. This is America where people want to keep MORE of the money they work hard to earn. I'm working for ME and MY FAMILY ONLY. That's American. We don't want to feel like we're living in a commune where our paychecks are shared with the wealthy and with those who don't strive to make anything of their lives. My neighbor is not my financial responsibility. I do want to help my neighbors... but I want that to be MY choice. Special interest programs might be created with the best of intentions -- but don't force me to pay for them.

Basically -- FUCK YOU, federal government (or at least all of you who want to raise our taxes/cost of living. Those who don't: you're cool. Thank you.)

And that concludes my post-run rant. It's been awhile.

First run in July. Way hot. Way, way hot. Over 90 degrees every single day. Twas 75 at dawn and 75 did not make me eager to run. Too warm. I went back to sleep. I'm sick and tired of these short afternoon runs in the heat. I feel like they do nothing for me. It's a fun challenge but that's it. I sweat my ass off, I lose a pound, I'm wiped out afterward but I don't feel like it does absolutely nothing for me in the true sense of real exercise to help keep me healthy and in shape. I dunno. Maybe someday I'll run in the morning again... it depresses me that it's been about two weeks since I have and I almost feel like I'll just run for real in the Fall. Until then I'll get fat. Hooray.

Better Health... or else

Obama orders you to exercise, and eat right, too.

No, not really.
But eventually the Supreme Holy One just might do that.

I run because I care about my health. It's the only significant exercise I get. I certainly don't run because I like it. I don't. Many (most?) people don't like exercise one bit. That's why we're a fat nation, generally speaking.

Those who are true blue Obama supporters will say this is insane (or they won't mind it): we, as a nation right now, could be on a path where the government has a direct part in how healthy we are. That's already started with removing trans fats from foods... so why not expand the Better Foods For All idea?

The President seems to believe in changing this great nation from the U.S.A. to The United Socialist Commune of America -- he wants free healthcare for all... well, sort of free, paid for from taxes, primarily from the taxes of the wealthier people; since they've been more successful and have done well in life, they need to pay for those who don't make a lot of money as well as those who don't want to work in life.

When everyone can have every issue taken care of, the usage of the healthcare system will increase exponentially and the cost of this new healthcare system will skyrocket. The high cost will cause the government to panic when they can't continue to pay for it. What will they do?

To be able to pay for the Utopian Obamanation Free Healthcare System, one thing they'll do is raise taxes and/or everyone's cost of living (an indirect tax.) Another thing they might work toward is dictating some of the ways citizens of this country live their life -- order them to be healthier. I have no clue how they'd go about doing this but when you're paying for something for someone, and when you're rationing it, it makes sense to save yourself some money. In order to reduce healthcare costs, they will need to not just lecture to people that they want them to be healthier, but actively be their nutritional and workout coaches. "You, Joe Citizen, if you want this free healthcare, you must lose 20 pounds by your next visit to the doctor we tell you to go to. If you don't meet our requirements, you will be charged X amount of dollars. Your healthcare should be free but you are in danger of forfeiting that full privilege. So don't eat donuts and/or exercise. We don't care which. Just do it or else."

Yes, working to make America healthier is a good thing. Obama has decided that's what he wants. What's not good is the fact that he and the government will be lecturing to America (lecturing to their children) that Coca Cola and Doritos are bad. What if America doesn't get that much healthier at the mere request of the government? Maybe they'll tax companies knowing that those companies will in turn have to raise their prices making a liter of cola cost $3 and a bag of Doritos also $3, donuts will be 2 bucks a piece and a meal at McDonald's for just one person or a medium popcorn at the movies will cost $10. Some people will quit the habits they have if they can't afford them anymore. Take away unhealthy choices and maybe American citizens, in general, will get healthier thus reducing healthcare costs.

Eating fruits and vegetables and staying away from the fried chicken and cola and other sugars is a good thing. But don't be surprised if they work to chisel away at our choice to easily consume those items if we wish to. That could also be called taking away some of our freedom. I'm all for a less fat and healthier America!!! But I also fully support one's choice to eat what they wish and to get diabetes and to die from a massive heart attack weighing 300 pounds.

If I'm someday required by the government to fill out a survey of what I eat, after they run it through some newly created, bloated budget government Better Health For All Americans office, they'll tell me to cut back on many things. But at least they'll give me a smiley face stamp for running.

After FAILing my last time out, I had to make sure I got back to where I should be at. Twasn't easy. Not enough sleep for running is never a good thing but with the temperature reaching 80 before noon and then 90+ in the afternoon, and then not cooling off until After Midnight, I've got to get out there in the early a.m. when it's coolest. My run would have gone just fine with plenty of sleep but I was pretty tired. I still succeeded but when I was finished I had that feeling of wanting to just lie down right on the trail and sleep until the hot sun woke me up hours later. The last thing I wanted was a fifteen minute walk back to the house. Now that I'm back, showered, and having my coffee, all I want is some sleep.

We're not safe, Mr. President, are we?

If a man like this is captured by the United States, and he potentially has information that could save hundreds of thousands of lives, what is the morally correct thing to do?

Maybe an attack could be stopped if information is divulged by that prisoner. If all other interrogation methods yield no results, should that prisoner be waterboarded in an effort to gain valuable life-saving info? Or under absolutely NO circumstances should waterboarding take place?

Instead of waterboarding, would it be morally correct to let hundreds of thousands of Americans die?

Of those two, which one should the United States do?

Would Nancy Pelosi or Comrade Barack Obama sacrifice their family so that America can say we never "torture" our prisoners? Is the discomfort of 1 single Muslim extremist more important than the deaths of 330,000 Americans, not to mention the national tragedy that that would be?

As it is right now, the terrorist prisoner would be offered slippers and some tea, plus he'd be afforded every legal right that a kid who steals a Milky Way from the 7-Eleven has.
Can we trust that the President of the U.S. would do the right thing to save American lives?

Your children murdered in a terrorist attack or a prisoner waterboarded in order to stop that attack. Which would you rather have happen?

VAT-free Run

Political commentary of the day: there shall be none. I hope. Maybe my fingers can stop themselves before my brain goes off on a tangent? Hmmm..... stall.... stall..... [waiting] ..... listening to more of this crappy crappy music that I chose for today not knowing it was so crappy...... Sotomayor..... nah, oh, I know, the V.A.T. (value-added tax) ... is it an acronym with periods like that or just VAT? (I haven't seen it in print, just heard it on the tele.) Stoopid rich Congress people who'd want to hurt lower income (and even middle class) people by raising the cost of EVERYTHING. When you live in a million dollar home, send your kids to private school, have sufficient expendable income and you're not hurt my shelling out more $$$$$ every month or week or even every day, then it's quite easy to say people should pay more for stuff or more for taxes... which VAT is, just not a tax directly directly on you. Cost of living will rise. Will everyone's income also rise accordingly? Or will people be left struggling or at least unable to pay for luxuries like a 6-pack or a movie or a day at the amusement park... or concert tickets? Ahh, but you'll be getting free healthcare, though. Therefore, you need new boots when it's winter? Duct tape the holes and use your old ones. You want a treadmill so you can work on losing weight? Don't worry, when you get diabetes, we'll pay your medical bills. Your car has 150,000 miles and is on its deathbed? Public transportation, dumbass. (Or somehow keep using your old one until it becomes illegal to drive something that's not Obama-approved.) You need a new roof on your home? No you don't -- put buckets down to catch the dripping water. You don't need to pay your electricity bills. Use candles.

This Value-Added Tax would just be insane. The mere thought of it is insane. So many people would be hurt. Local small businesses will have to close because people won't have extra income to spend. That's going to help America? I'm all for a simple lifestyle but not one forced on people by the government. What there'll be for so many will be free healthcare and bare bones living. But at least the people will be under the thumb of the government. I know, I know, the VAT doesn't look likely but has President Oh Great One ruled it out yet??? Huh? Well? Huh? Well? Huh? Yeah, I didn't think so.

More intelligence than in half of Congress...

Freakin' miracle that I got outta bed this morning. Sort of. I was just soooo tired and all I wanted to do was SLEEP MORE. But I dragged my ass outta bed, made coffee, had cereal, added a pre-arranged Running Play List to my mp3 and then almost went back to sleep. Man, I was just so tired. Nope, I didn't get a perfect night's sleep. That's why. I wasn't dead to the world tired but on the walk to the trail, I swear my ass was physically draggin'. Maybe not... but a 12 minute walk seemed to take forever. Stretching sucked. I wanted so badly to skip it altogether and just get this whole hellish nightmare over with. Trail was wet from dew but I didn't even care. Actually the footpath itself is fine but the weeds growing alongside severely encroach on the footpath and those wet weeds get my lower legs quite wet. This morning it didn't seem to bother me as I cruised along on auto-pilot just, again, wanting to get this over with. I remember right after I turned around about halfway through, I wanted to speed up, as if I ran faster it would get me done quicker. Uhhh... since I'm going for time, not distance, that wouldn't matter. Keep it at normal pace, dumbass. Finally I was done and on my way back to more coffee. It wasn't a bad run, I only added a pathetic 8 seconds today but I feel good about the run as a whole. With an extra day this month I'll be able to top out at 4 hours. (All I really need to do is go run for a less than a minute and I'll have accomplished 4 hours but I'll do one more full run.)

Run & Crap

Boy oh boy, this blog sure has taken a turn away from political ramblings, eh? So little personal stuff here, too. I'm sure there are plenty of folks out there who'd prefer this place just be music, or at least leave the politics out of it, but this is mine to do what I want with. If I wanna rant, I'll rant. It's just that of all the bullshit in Washington, D.C. that pisses me off/concerns me, I air out what I can into my dear Sugarmag's ear... and so I guess that helps keep it out of Inspiration, Move Me Brightly... for the most part.

Interestingly, it's often when I start typing just plain and simple like this when I can veer off into the IDIOCY that occurs at the highest levels of government in this country. Man, I tell ya... when it's not that total and utter moron Nancy Pelosi, it's something else like a person being nominated to make Supreme Court decisions using empathy. Empathy?! No. Just plain fucking no. No. Comprende amigo? No. Sonia Sotomayor is a racist and sexist activist judge who believes policy is made by judges. She will make decisions partially based on empathy???? Excuse me, but the judges of this nation are to be IMPARTIAL. Making empathetic decisions is not in the OATH that judges swear to. Apparently President Obama doesn't know this... or he doesn't care.
"I, [NAME], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as [TITLE] under the Constitution and laws of the United States. So help me God."
Empathy is a good thing to have for a human being, even for a judge. A judge, however, should never be deciding for a certain person or group of people based on their own personal opinions and leanings. I suppose when you're hellbent on destroying any policy based on conservative thinking, and when you want total liberalism to rule every facet of American life, having judges legislate from the bench is a great tactic to control the people. Get enough like-minded judges, enough judges who will make decisions based on their empathetic feelings without regard to being impartial, then a President won't have to fuss around with Republican senators who disagree with the empathetic ideals that he or she wants to make a permanent part of the American landscape. I don't know if this is part of the Grand Scheme hatched in Obama's mind in conjunction with his little minion Rahm Emmanuel, but it ain't right.

Empathy v. Impartiality
When they conflict, the Supreme Court must choose the latter.

4 Days Since My Last Run8:25 a.m.71° ● sunny, nice

Well, I let four days go by AGAIN. Man. Excuses: I just didn't wake up early enough yesterday and then it started to rain and then I was tired. Alright, fine. Can't undo that. Here we are today.

Not enough sleep last night was detrimental to having a high level of success in running this morning. I was freakin' tired. I didn't even wake up as early as I had planned. I wanted to be out there at 6:30! Dang it!! Crickey, mate, I need to go to sleep at like 10 o'freakin'-clock if I want a run that early in the morning. That just ain't gonna happen. With the weather getting sooooooo disgustingly warm, I've got to somehow make it happen. I dunno. Despite the tiredness, I did finish my run okay this morning... okay but not great.

There wasn't much rain yesterday but the trail was a little mushy in places. I figured on that and was ready to dodge slippery spots. No problems there; I'm agile. At one point before my turnaround I saw 4 or 5 deer down the trail a ways but they were gone as I approached so I couldn't get an exact count. Hiking woulda gotten me close but running never allows for that.

The morning air wasn't bad but it was humid, like 100% humid, and so I almost might as well've been running under a noonday sun. No, that wouldn't not been good -- I'll take humidity over heat of the sun anyday when it comes to running. Still it wore me down. When I was done, I was done, no wish in me to keep going. No freakin' way. Thankfully I brought Gatorade with me 'cause I'm needing liquid immediately at the end of every run now because of the warmth.

So all in all my run wasn't horrible. It's been a long time since I've failed or had a truly horrible run but with the heat coming on fast, it could happen. I'll keep doing what I can. I eclipsed 27 minutes on my way to 30....... but still a looooooooooooong way from running the 2010 London Marathon.

CCR RUN

If you enter "word of the day" (in quotes) into your favorite internet search engine, you'll get not just one Word Of The Day but many from various websites. I thought it might be a fun exercise to pick a Word Of The Day and just start typing about what immediately comes to mind...

yeah, but that'll piss off a LOT of people should they read what I'd write. A few examples from today are "feckless" and "vestige" and "durable." All that immediately comes to mind has to do with the Socialization of America by many of the idiots who are in charge of running this great country. These dooshbags think they're doing what's best for America and for Americans but in reality they're feckless morons who are proving the U.S. Constitution is not durable. They swear an oath to uphold the Constitution but they just don't give a damn, many of them. Because of that, so many citizens need to fight so hard so we're not facing a time in our history where we have to hang on for dear life to America's last vestige of freedom and conservative values. Our founding fathers would be appalled at where we are now. I swear, they'd want to leave here for somewhere the politicians actually act efficiently AND in the best interest of The People rather than themselves. I wonder what planet that is.

The North Face trail running shoe -- good for use in the Appalachian Mountains ... but seriously, they are rather small compared to the Rocky Mountains ... Sierra Nevada are sweet, too. Would definitely use 'em in the Alps, that's for sure. One thing's for sure -- Jerry Garcia or Bob Weir or Phil Lesh or Blaise Compaoré probably never went running in Liberia, Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Probably the same with Brent Mydland. At least that's my gut feeling. I could be wrong. I mean, there were a lot of drugs at Grateful Dead shows and the good Lord above, He knows I did my share!

Decent run and I'm happy with the amount of time I added on but March is going to be a failure. If I go every other day, I won't even hit 3 hours. How pathetic is that? Crap!

I listen to so much music that's just fine for running... and then every once in a while I get something like this into my ears. Maybe someday I'll finally get around to having shelves of The Essentials -- music that I MUST listen to not just once every few years but occasionally. This is one of those that needs to be in my ears more often. Last time I played this I was in Montana and that was like circa 2000. That's way too long between listens for such a great album. One listen to Susie Q and it's clear why this is Deadhead music! What a great jam they get into. Walk On The Water isn't as long as Susie Q, it's actually under 5 minutes but holy crap, what a lot of music they pack into 5 minutes! Sooooo good! Other tunes, as well, totally have a late 60's feel to them. It could almost be Jerry Garcia on lead guitar. Hmmm... speaking of Jerry, these guys totally have a Dead connection with Tom Fogerty playing in the early 70's with Jerry & Merl Saunders. Wow..... hmmm..... and in 1989 Jerry and Bob played an AIDS benefit with John Fogerty and just a year and a few months later, Tom Fogerty (according to Wikipedia) died of AIDS complications stemming from a blood transfusion.

Anyway, this doesn't qualify as one of my favorite albums ever but it's so damn good and I've definitely gotta get more CCR into my ears!

Feels Like (Was) The First Time (In A Week)

Well, well, well, what to bitch and complain about today? With these running posts I always feel like having something up here on top. I've already finished my run, already typed about it and typed about the music I listened to when I ran, now I can add something up here. But what? Hmmm, maybe something about the Dow Jones being DOWN again? It was in positive numbers a few minutes ago, but it's down almost 10 points below where it opened for the day. Sad thing is, even if it ends UP like 2 or 300 points, it'll still be down for the week. Ain't that swell? Why's this not important to people like, oh, the President?!!? Millions upon millions of hardworking Americans have money in a 401(k) and/or otherwise invested in Wall Street for their retirement or maybe to send a child to college. All of that is slowly going bye bye. It's all getting eaten away. Unbelievable. Does the President even care?!?! Apparently not. The market's got a little less than four more hours to go on the day so we'll see what happens. Again, even if it closes up 500 points, that doesn't mean we're gonna be okay, not yet. One good day does not make a recovery; we'd still be a LONG way away from where we SHOULD be. Since the President won the election and since he was inaugurated, Wall Street's gone straight to hell. There's just NO confidence in what he and his administration is doing to fix the economy. NO positive outlook for the future. Just great, I say sarcastically. But for whatever reason, and now I'm just going in circles, it doesn't seem like he even cares.

In other news: exercise is good. And why do we like to be nostalgic?

Days Since My Last Run: (nearly) 7

It's partially unbelievable to me that it's been nearly 7 whole days since my last run. Yet again -- that's not good. To be fair -- there's been rain. There's been a pinched nerve in my back that sidelined me for three days. And then there was an allergies issue that caused me to delay this run by a day. Crap crap crap. But finally I was able to get out there.

Not a good run but what matters is I got it done. Since it had been a week, I retooled my Run Time, cutting back quite a bit. I'll have to build back up again, hopefully not in 10 or 12 second increments, hopefully by half minutes.

Less than half way through, I had thoughts of quitting, My nose was runny as hell and that absolutely annoyed the crap out of me. How I made it to the end cue on my mp3 player, I do not know. Physically I feel fine now, felt fine when running, and I don't suspect there'll be any problem with my back or anything else. I suppose my nose is physically part of me but I was talkin' about my muscles and tendons and such. Nose-wise I've seen better days. Allergy medication had me half knocked on my ass while I ran and now it's almost making me fall asleep. Maybe I should be happier that I ran for the first time in March, and that somehow I succeeded, but eh.

Wow, this brought me back to growin' up in (north) Jersey, back when 102.7 WNEW was the king of rock and roll radio stations. Actually, back in those days it was one of the only I ever knew about but the annual Rolling Stone poll always had it at #1. Well, duh... considering there were like 7 million people in the city alone back then, and that's not even including my listening area in the Jersey 'burbs as well as Long Island and Westchester. Nowhere else really had a chance.

Anyway, there was a time when I owned the Foreigner 4 LP but other than that, all I knew of these guys was what got radio play. They had several hits through the years including two from this debut album: Feels Like The First Time and Cold As Ice. I've got a feeling that people who don't really even know Foreigner, they've heard those songs. One other on here -- Long, Long Way From Home -- charted but not in the Top 10 like the other two singles. I hadn't realized I'd heard that one in the past but it's indeed familiar to me. Must've been on WNEW, as well.

This whole album I don't necessarily love but those three songs are good ones. Often an album I use for running is something I'm easily able to "discard" and never listen to again, but I think I might dig this again someday. Old Foreigner's not bad.
