VAT-free Run
Political commentary of the day: there shall be none. I hope. Maybe my fingers can stop themselves before my brain goes off on a tangent? Hmmm..... stall.... stall..... [waiting] ..... listening to more of this crappy crappy music that I chose for today not knowing it was so crappy...... Sotomayor..... nah, oh, I know, the V.A.T. (value-added tax) ... is it an acronym with periods like that or just VAT? (I haven't seen it in print, just heard it on the tele.) Stoopid rich Congress people who'd want to hurt lower income (and even middle class) people by raising the cost of EVERYTHING. When you live in a million dollar home, send your kids to private school, have sufficient expendable income and you're not hurt my shelling out more $$$$$ every month or week or even every day, then it's quite easy to say people should pay more for stuff or more for taxes... which VAT is, just not a tax directly directly on you. Cost of living will rise. Will everyone's income also rise accordingly? Or will people be left struggling or at least unable to pay for luxuries like a 6-pack or a movie or a day at the amusement park... or concert tickets? Ahh, but you'll be getting free healthcare, though. Therefore, you need new boots when it's winter? Duct tape the holes and use your old ones. You want a treadmill so you can work on losing weight? Don't worry, when you get diabetes, we'll pay your medical bills. Your car has 150,000 miles and is on its deathbed? Public transportation, dumbass. (Or somehow keep using your old one until it becomes illegal to drive something that's not Obama-approved.) You need a new roof on your home? No you don't -- put buckets down to catch the dripping water. You don't need to pay your electricity bills. Use candles.
This Value-Added Tax would just be insane. The mere thought of it is insane. So many people would be hurt. Local small businesses will have to close because people won't have extra income to spend. That's going to help America? I'm all for a simple lifestyle but not one forced on people by the government. What there'll be for so many will be free healthcare and bare bones living. But at least the people will be under the thumb of the government. I know, I know, the VAT doesn't look likely but has President Oh Great One ruled it out yet??? Huh? Well? Huh? Well? Huh? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Friday early morning Run: 27 minutes 15 sec | +8 sec |
2 Days Since My Last Run ● 7:15 a.m. ● XX° ● XXXXXXXX
Freakin' miracle that I got outta bed this morning. Sort of. I was just soooo tired and all I wanted to do was SLEEP MORE. But I dragged my ass outta bed, made coffee, had cereal, added a pre-arranged Running Play List to my mp3 and then almost went back to sleep. Man, I was just so tired. Nope, I didn't get a perfect night's sleep. That's why. I wasn't dead to the world tired but on the walk to the trail, I swear my ass was physically draggin'. Maybe not... but a 12 minute walk seemed to take forever. Stretching sucked. I wanted so badly to skip it altogether and just get this whole hellish nightmare over with. Trail was wet from dew but I didn't even care. Actually the footpath itself is fine but the weeds growing alongside severely encroach on the footpath and those wet weeds get my lower legs quite wet. This morning it didn't seem to bother me as I cruised along on auto-pilot just, again, wanting to get this over with. I remember right after I turned around about halfway through, I wanted to speed up, as if I ran faster it would get me done quicker. Uhhh... since I'm going for time, not distance, that wouldn't matter. Keep it at normal pace, dumbass. Finally I was done and on my way back to more coffee. It wasn't a bad run, I only added a pathetic 8 seconds today but I feel good about the run as a whole. With an extra day this month I'll be able to top out at 4 hours. (All I really need to do is go run for a less than a minute and I'll have accomplished 4 hours but I'll do one more full run.)

Why are you posting commentary on things you know nothing about? Try reading a newspaper and getting the facts. If you're getting your news from Fox News, you're an even bigger fool than I thought.
The original anonymous!? The person responsible for so many great works of literature and acts of charity? I am impressed!
I think that when Zoooma said "I want to kill you" and then "Peace;)" he was being ironic.
"they present the ABSOLUTE Republicker view only"When's the last time you watched? Hannity presents his Republican viewpoint. Beck leans Right but he criticizes equally. O'Reilly is completely fair and will also criticize and praise equally. He's praised Obama. If you actually analyzed this you'd see it. Throughout the day on Fox News Channel, from sunrise to sunset, there are DEMS giving their point of view, even on Hannity's show.
If your statement was true, there'd never be a single Democrat voicing his or her opinion on Fox News Channel. Absolute is absolute, 100%, right? Look, there are more Dems on Fox in an hour than there are Republicans on MSNBC all day long.
The "Fox News is EVIL" rhetoric cracks me up quite often. Most people who make this claim are just on the bandwagon, spewing forth the same crap their like-minded friends do... while never actually watching to make up their own minds about it. It's pathetic, really. Pretty much just baseless nonsense. In reality, what some of those people hate is the fact that Fox News allows a Republican viewpoint to be given to the public at all. They watch MSNBC and read Huffington Post, Daily Kos, etc because it's all slanted ONE way, their way, and any other way is just plain dangerous to them. If that's someone's point of view, that's sick and sad.
P.S. get a name, stop being Anonymous... or sign it every time like some people do.
Zooma - You're a fraud. Plain and simple. You post that "dissent is patriotic" but hold the view that anyone who disagrees with you should be KILLED. What are you 8 years old? You immediately go to threatening someone's life if they don't hold your political views. You don't know the first thing about being an American.
Anonymous Dood or Doodette, You've got to be kidding me. Where did Zoooma say that someone who disagrees should be killed? Do you know what irony is?
Also, I disagree with Zoooma quite often and I'm not dead yet.
Bill O'Reilly? Really? The one who basically called for George Tiller's murder, over the course of the last 2 years?
Zooma, hello again.
When motivated (...it's such a chore), I've posted as "Lefty".
Not that it matters, but your praises of FOX News have me doing the rethink - maybe you ARE even a bigger fool than the "imposter" anonymous thougt/suggested. O'Reilly "is completely fair" - ha, ha, ha, ha - good one. I'm stunned...
And, just to clarify, I'm not in love with Obama. I voted against the WORST ("ABSOLUTE" - yes, that "100%" thing) ticket of ALL TIME. A FACT. Now, if we're ALL (even MORE) fucked because the powers that be (Bilderbergs, anyone?) who OWN the Presidency (and most of the rest of the world) engineered the greatest deception of ALL TIME....allowing the citizens to feel they voted "for CHANGE" by cultivating and sponsoring a mixed-race (NON-white), far-from-right candidate, I take no pleasure - in fact, I suffer despair to the Xth degree.
(Sugarmag - "I think that when Zoooma said "I want to kill you" and then "Peace;)" he was being ironic." I completely understand where your loyalty lies, but, "ironic"? Check with Alanis Morissette...it felt/smelt a quite mean spirited and sincere. I mean this from the gentleman who (early on) stated that I was "worse than Hitler". And, "The original anonymous!? The person responsible for so many great works of literature and acts of charity? I am impressed!" - let me with the utmost respect remind you that you don't know me, either, so maybe your judgement is is ill informed?)
Happy Tuesday! Cheers!
Hello.
Oh, me again.
I sincerely want to add that I really like your site, and the occasional discussion.
Thank you,
"Anonymous"
"Bill O'Reilly? Really? The one who basically called for George Tiller's murder, over the course of the last 2 years?"
Ya see, now there you go again. Please give me one instance where O'Reilly even hinted that that doctor should have been murdered. Just one instance, please. I'm asking nicely.
I'm guessing you're taking the word of others and you've never actually heard what O'Reilly's spoken about the man. Am I right? Disdain for someone isn't calling for their death. Is it?
"but your praises of FOX News have me doing the rethink"
And you are mistaking facts for praises. I've never said how wonderful or awesome they are, unless I'm mistaken, I've never used any words of praise for the Fox News Channel. If I have, please show me. I'm just being fair about them and that's not praise. Saying a brown fence is brown isn't praising the fence, I'm just telling you what color it is. Nothing more.
Listen, if you don't think O'Reilly is fair, do you actually sit and watch to judge that for yourself with a free and clear and open mind? Or do you just read what others have to say? (Most people who say they hate Fox News just roll with that rhetoric while never actually watching.) If the man praises Obama, is that not being fair? He doesn't proclaim every move of Democrats to be wrong and every move of Republicans to be right. He criticizes both parties.
Lastly, of course I don't believe anyone who disagrees with me should die. Have I ever said that? I'm pretty sure no. Therefore, that Anonymous (boy, it's really not a terrible chore to give yourself a name to tell y'all apart) must be a mind reader but funny thing is the thought that anyone who disagrees with me should die is not on my mind... unless I don't know what I'm thinking and I need anonymous people to tell me what I'm thinking. Quick, what do I want for breakfast?
Oatmeal with craisins and a banana, orange juice, and one cup of coffee black.
Now that breakfast has been taken care of, I didn't suggest that you feel "anyone who disagrees with you should be KILLED" or make any mention of O'Reilly/George Tiller -it must've been that other guy. I do think O'Reilly is an obnoxious gasbag and the idea of FOX News being "fair and balanced" is a terrible joke.
I could just do away with Anonymous commenting but I won't but what I will do is from now on I'll address the Anonymous comments as if it's all one person... doesn't matter to me, doesn't make a difference.
In any case, concerning: the idea of FOX News being "fair and balanced" is a terrible joke ... whose word do you rely on to make that your own personal opinion? People commenting at Daily Kos and Huffington Post? New York Times editorials? When's the last time you watched more than 15 minutes from 9 in the a.m. until 9 o'clock at night, Eastern Time?
Question: you give 5 minutes to the Republican to state their case on an issue, and then you give 5 minutes to the Democrat on the same issue, how is that not being fair and balanced? At the end of the discussion, the anchor doesn't say to the audience that the Republican is right and the Dem is total fucking moron. Christ oh mighty, you people and your rhetoric cracks me up. First you make up shit that I think all people who disagree with me should be killed and then you run with the left wing liberal attitude that Fox News is evil and bad for ABSOLUTELY promoting Republican ideals ONLY. Again, seriously, have you actually watched objectively, on your TV set, with an open mind, to make up your own decision?
"you people and your rhetoric" - what about YOU people and YOUR rhetoric? It doesn't work BOTH ways?
Honestly, I have NEVER read Daily Kos and Huffington Post. I do occasionally read the New York Times (and two Chicago newspapers) and check the BBC online. I've heard enough of O'Reilly (but not lately - to me, he's annoying like insects in the room) and FOX News reporting to know that it is often slanted.
I always make my own decisions and try to keep an open mind.
What's for dinner?
"FOX News reporting . . . often slanted"
Previously you made it sound like it's all Republican news, all the time. Now you're saying often. I know the answer but which is it to you?
And if you once upon a time came to truly your own decision that you despise their programming, but you never revisit that decision, how's that trying to be open-minded? Or will you just listen to the anti-Fox News ranting and raving of others and use that to help keep your decision alive and well? After all, that's what most people who hate Fox News do. They never watch but their friends say they hate it so they must jump on that bandwagon, too. Yeah, that makes sense.
You avoided "'you people and your rhetoric' - what about YOU people and YOUR rhetoric? It doesn't work BOTH ways?".
I never said I despise FOX News programming. I said it is often (in fact, any time I've heard it) slanted. During the last eight years it became the official propaganda voice for the Bush White House...to the extent that FOX was incentive to a competitor to become extremely slanted the other way. NOW, with Bush out, it might not seem as "all Republican news" (but the difference is hardly night and day...or even Repub/Democrat). I don't necessarily have to view FOX New programming daily to see if they've changed format - I can see little bullshit snipets like the ones you post.
On a more personal note, what's with "once upon a time came to truly your own decision"? What exactly do you know about my decision making process? And, speaking of revisitation and trying to keep an open mind, is that what you do when you throw out statements like "Christ oh mighty, you people and your rhetoric cracks me up." Obviously you are constantly reassessing and adjusting your opinions.
Hey, man, if Fox was the official propaganda voice of the White House, can I see some evidence to back that up? There must have been at least one person who was the official liaison between the two. Who was that? Or is saying that Fox News was the "official propaganda voice for the Bush White House" just propaganda in itself? In a sense, I could say that NBC/MSNBC and the NY Times are official propaganda voices for the Obama White House. But that's not fair because there's nothing official about it.
About the "bullshit snippet" of Fox News videos I post -- can you fill me in on the others that I've posted? I could be wrong (though it doesn't happen often, of course) but I think this is the first one ever. I try to avoid using Fox News as a source. But sometimes they're the only ones talking about an issue while everyone else is ignoring something. Take the case of the soldier recently murdered on American soil by a Muslim terrorist -- it was on p. 16 of the NY Times and two of the three network nightly newscasts didn't say a single word about it.
But I digress -- if the Fox News video I posted here is bullshit, please (I ask nicely) tell me what's bullshit about it.
Concerning your personal note -- no, I don't know anything about your decision making process. I was assuming that once upon a time you made up your mind and it seems you're forever sticking to it.
When I said "Christ oh mighty, you people and your rhetoric cracks me up" that wasn't being close-minded, I was remarking on the rhetoric: it's always the same old shit, it seems.
"Obviously you are constantly reassessing and adjusting your opinions." I may not adjust every single opinion of mine... but unlike a zillion people, I am open to reassessing. I believe that's being open-minded.
"the rhetoric: it's always the same old shit, it seems" - absolutely...and that applies whether the source is conservative OR liberal.
"official" (- notice NOT in quotes in my post to which you refer) can be taken as LITERALLY as "a zillion people" - I believe we both get the idea...no need to obsess on the minutia. (Same with an exact count of FOX videos? I do NOT actually depend on this site for news.)
I will take your word for it that sometimes FOX News are the only ones talking about an issue which everyone else is ignoring. But, I also must consider the slant - no republican in the Oval Office...is there an ax to grind? Like it or not, Zooma, their reputation precedes them - "Fair and balanced" - the ultimate irony.(http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1067)
OK. I'm the first anonymous poster at the very top of the list. I over-reacted in my second post and offer my sincere apologies.
Zooma you have a great site. I don't know what my life would have been without the Good Ol' Grateful Dead but especially without Jerry. I don't have as much affinity to them since he's been gone.
I don't think we'll agree on a number of points but hey sometimes you just gotta sit back and "listen to the music play".
Peace brothers and sisters!
Hey Anonymous, thanks for the link. I'm glad it's current. I just read a great People Magazine article about how Farrah Fawcett is dealing with her new popularity from being on Charlie's Angels. You want I should send it to ya?
And Anonymous, when I said eat shit, etc, I over-reacted, too. I was in a bad mood. Even though I might infuse a wee bit of sarcasm into a comment sometimes, that's not how I want to talk to people, even those who ardently disagree with me and even with those who think it's okay to rudely put me down. It's not right and I apologize, too. I'd hope all Deadheads can discuss an issue, but if no agreement is made then hopefully we can all just dig the tunes. I'm glad you like th site, thanks for the comment. Keep on downloading! Peace :)
Good morning, Farrah.
How much has changed at FOX News since that piece (besides the date and time)? Really. Same O'Reilly shtick. Same slant. Like the "rhetoric: it's always the same old shit, it seems".
Pass along my kind regards to Rush and Cheney.
(Please note: This is not a rude putdown.)
With keen sensitivity,
Anonymous
"And I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels. If that's how she really feels -- that America is a bad country or a flawed nation, whatever -- then that's legit. We'll track it down."

You know what's really frightening? You actually have an influence on this presidential election. That is scary, but it's true. You've got stoned slackers watching your dopey show every night and they can vote."
"I couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it's run by blacks, primarily black patronship." O'Reilly later added, "There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, I want more iced tea.' You know, I mean, everybody was -- it was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun. And there wasn't any kind of craziness at all." "I think black Americans are starting to think more and more for themselves. They're getting away from the Sharptons and the [Rev. Jesse] Jacksons and the people trying to lead them into a race-based culture. They're just trying to figure it out. 'Look, I can make it. If I work hard and get educated, I can make it."

"So anyway I'd be rubbing your big boobs and getting your nipples really hard, kinda' kissing your neck from behind...and then I would take the other hand with the falafel thing and I'd just put it on your p***y but you'd have to do it really light, just kind of a tease business..."
"This is a no-spin zone."
I "ABSOLUTELY" mean no disrespect, and Lord knows this isn't a rude put-down, but I feel a little entitled to say, "Shut-the-fuck-up" about Bill O'Reilly, and Republican Conservative ideals and viewpoints - "He doesn't do that.".
"People simply don't sometimes make up their own damn mind." - yes, indeed I caved to peer pressure. It isn't because O'Reilly is a fuckin' asshole - that couldn't be it, right?
"But then you probably couldn't tell your friends that or else what, they might start pissing on you and calling you a right winger Cheney lover or something? Don't wanna be on the wrong side of the fascism, right?" - my friends do not piss on me. (Maybe YOU should examine your situation?) If the ONLY two choices are between "Cheney/fascism" and "Socialism" (NObody heard one fuckin' word about this, including the word "Socialism" until some asswipe working for McCain/Palin threw it out during their campaign), I'll take "Socialism" - there are enough (TOO MANY) corporations and wealthy pricks ruling the world NOW.
I don't disrespect you (at all) - I just think that you should try to get you head out of your ass, and especially FOX News, and the bullshit that is SO easy to believe (the fantasy we ALL would like), and realize that it isn't any conspiracy bullshit - the pricks who own most of the world and world governments ARE "out to get us (the rest of the world)"...and Obama. Bush, Clinton, Bush are/were merely "employees" - not "Of the People", but of The ELITE.
It's (almost) everyone's WORST nightmare, but IT IS.
Hey, you ever said something you regret and then apologize? I have. Not that I love the man but in all fairness (that's what this is about -- being fair) he apologized for saying "lynching party." Fascists don't forgive, though. Good people do.
As far as Katrina hitting the U.N. -- who cares. For the most part they're useless bastards.
As far as the "stoned slackers" comment -- he's got a point. Does he not? (That's not rhetorical by any means.) People can be swayed by what someone like Jon Stewart says without ever gathering information for themselves from non-biased sources. If Jon Stewart, in his slanted-to-the-left way, slams a candidate while putting one on a pedestal, those who can be influenced can be so easily swayed to vote not for who they think is best, but for who Jon Stewart says is best. We live in a nation where that has happened. It's sad. Some people voted for Obama 'cause he's black. Some voted for McCain 'cause he's white. Some voted because the news source, or the "news" source, they always follow put Obama into a shining light; they made him out to be The Saviour. It's reality that that's what people like Jon Stewart and others did. There was nothing wrong in O'Reilly bringing that point to light. Was there? There are stoned slackers who'd rather someone make their decision for them.
All that other crap, fuck it, where'd you go, Media Matters?
You still don't get that he is fair when criticizing the President or Congress. You still don't get that he praises Obama. He's not a right wing nut. He cares about this country and that we don't have fascist socialist libtards taking us away from conservative values that made this land what it is. He wants people to take care of themselves, not have the government turn us into a total welfare babysitting state. He cares about the security of this nation and of our troops. He cares about freedom not only for us Americans but for other human beings as well. You seem to want to deny that you would actually find him fair and that you would actually agree with him if you gave him a chance.
One thing you're doing wrong is associating Fascism with Cheney. Fascism should be associated with Obama/Pelosi/Rangel, etc. Some of those fuckers want a single-party state more than anything. They think they know what's best for us and for all the money in our pockets and theirs. They want total control without anyone questioning them. Nancy Pelosi is the perfect example of that. "DON'T QUESTION ME, you prick" should be her motto. Fuck that fascism.
And fuck socialism. If a corporation or an individual gets to a place of mega-wealth honestly, as many do, that's a beautiful thing. Hard honest work should never be punished. There's nothing wrong with success. To take from that person because they're successful and give to the dipshit who doesn't want to work, that is not right. That's not American. Govt should make sure all individuals have the chance to succeed and they should make sure corporations or individuals are not getting wealthy by exploiting others... but those who are honest should be left alone. The wealthiest shouldn't have to pay all of the taxes for 70 or 80% of America... or whatever it is Obama wants us to get to. Nor should we be forced to pay more in this world so that we can help pay for our neighbor's medical bills in a socialist healthcare system. I also shouldn't have to pay for your medical bills or for the medical bills of Tom Cruise who can afford his own fucking medical care.
This course we're on is BAD and there are too many people endorsing it because of Mr. Historical Black President Man who's going to save us and the world from everything. Bullshit. What he's doing, for the most part, is unAmerican, worse than Bush in some ways. Yet the mainstream media is practically state run, they're Obama's cheerleaders. Thankfully there are people (like certain anchors on Fox) who are going to weed through the BS and try to tell people what's really what. Week after week, month after month, they have the best ratings... and it ain't all Conservative Republicans watching. Their ratings blow everyone else out of the water. Hands down. And because their ratings are so huge, the viewership extends way outside of that one voting group alone. More level-headed Dems and Independents, for TV news and commentary, turn to Fox News because they know the other networks are in the bag for Obama and they're sick of the crap. On Fox you can get opinion for BOTH sides of an issue; it's not just Republicans putting down Dems ad nauseam. Even though that's what so many liberals believe, that couldn't be further from the truth. The NY Times says Conservative Republican thinking = BAD, evil, dangerous. Fox gives you people from both sides without telling what's right or wrong. O'Reilly and some others give their opinion but they're not reporting the news in a slanted way because they don't tell, they discuss. Compare that to Olbermann, for instance. Why are his ratings so fucking abysmal? Because doesn't he only talk down to the Right and only talk with people who agree with him? He's so full of hatred that he'd stop eating a certain flavor of ice cream if he found out Bush liked it too. He thinks Bush is so stoopid he has people tie his shoes for him. Holy fucking shit... you have no idea how fair Fox is. Of course there are opinionated anchors but what they do is they discuss issues with people who have an opposite viewpoint. Is that not fair? It is. What more can you ask for from them??!?!?! Watch sometime, watch O'Reilly twice a week for a couple weeks and I'll bet you Obama's accumulated debt over the next three years that you'll agree with things he says! You'll actually nod in agreement with Bill O'Reilly. You probably won't re-evaluate your position, you won't give him a fair shake. I don't expect you to. Most hateful people are completely close-minded individuals who stick to their opinions because it's the in thing to do with the crowd they generally associate with. I'm not saying this is you... I'm saying most are that way. It's sad, really. Rather than saying they're more open-minded than any Republican any day of the week, if a liberal would just admit they're close-minded, it would make things be not so bad.
P.S. I don't buy your conspiracy world govt stuff for a second. Not a lot of people do. Step away from the aluminum foil. We're just a nation here. No one out there's controlling us. If anything, certain politicians do have the desire that we have some sort of world govt with the UN as the leader and the U.S. would have a limited role (except for our tax dollars since we're so wealthy) but the world govt thing ain't actively happening. While Americans often scream their heads off on the internet while bending over to take the govt's decisions right up the ass, millions of the same people will sooner take up arms against the govt and die if need be to prevent this nation from completely going under at the hands of some fascist regime, especially if we're going to be run by someone else. The world govt conspiracy crap just ain't happening. If it was there'd be people out there screaming at the tops of their lungs that it's an issue for the American people to be aware of. No one really is.
"you ever said something you regret and then apologize?" - of course. But I wasn't gasbagging on a news source whose "ratings blow everyone else out of the water. Hands down." I would think carefully choosing one's words would be an important part of the job.
"those who can be influenced can be so easily swayed to vote not for who they think is best, but for who Jon Stewart says is best." - I sincerely hope you don't really believe this. This might be the most ridiculous thing you've ever written on Inspiration,. I know that many Americans are ignorant, but isn't possible that some read/researched information, listened to the debates, and then made their decision?
"fascist socialist libtards taking us away from conservative values that made this land what it is" - hmmm? Too much of an open mind is a bad thing/"the rhetoric: it's always the same old shit, it seems"?
"They want total control without anyone questioning them..."DON'T QUESTION ME, you prick" should be her motto." - Did you sleep thru the Cheney/Bush terms (especially post-9/11)???
"This course we're on is BAD" - it would appear so. Realize, this course didn't begin in 2009...it goes as far back as Raygun, and probably back to the Nixon years. I know that you hate considering ancient history, but you cannot divorce the present from the events over the years that lead to/caused it.
"Mr. Historical Black President Man" - bigot? (Just a slip...)
(Mr. President) "What he's doing, for the most part, is unAmerican, worse than Bush in some ways." - I don't know about "unAmerican", and it's much too early for him to rate "worse than Bush". I think his decisions favoring Wall Street indicate more of a continuation of Bush, UNfortunately. (This tends to reinforce my belief that Obama is, and Bush, Clinton, Bush...back to, but not including Kennedy were merely "employees" - not "Of the People", but of The ELITE. And, that the people who own the world are moving forward with their agenda.) To Obama's credit, I think working to improve the healthcare system and education are great things - tax dollars well spent. (The cost of the fiasco in Iraq/the money non-bid contractors have been stealing could have paid for healthcare, an education, and a trip to Disneyland for ALL CITIZENS.)
"Step away from the aluminum foil." - Good luck with that "take up arms against the govt and die if need be" thing. Get your assault weapons NOW!
"The world govt conspiracy (Or NOT)crap...it's an issue for the American people to be aware of. No one really is." - No one? prisonplanet.com
It is not the most ridiculous thing to say that some Americans did/do no research about who they elect. Some vote for the (D) or the (R), or the skin color, without even knowing anything more than the candidate's name. That's truth. Not everyone spent time to make up their own mind... some people let the media make up their mind for them.
Yes, Dems want total control more than Republicans do. 16 Obama Czars answer to no one. How many czars did Bush have? We the people have some control over our elected officials. That's the way it's supposed to be. What say do we have in any czar decisions? How do we have a czar impeached or throw a czar out of office? Talk about a power grab!
When talking about the course we're on, there is no need sometimes to discuss the past because only those in the present can change the course we're on. We can't tell what Carter or Reagan or Bush or Clinton or Bush what we want them to do for America. We can only tell the current Congress and the current historical black president. Am I a bigot to mention that? No. When I think of Obama, I never think of skin color or history. I said it in the proper context -- Much of the mainstream media latched onto the fact that he'd be the first (historical) black president. They practically made it out to be you're a racist if you don't vote for him. Even for awhile afterwards you were a racist (to some people) if you criticized him. He's not God but he's Obama, the first black President who will save us. That's how they made him out. Historical? Yes. Black? Yes. Save us? Hell no.
Bringing up the fact that Iraq could have paid for healthcare for all isn't helpful because you can't get in your special DeLorean and go back in time to change things. You can only look forward. (Even if we did go back in time and stop the war before it started, you'd be depriving 25-30 million people of freedom while allowing an evil man like Hussein to keep on doing what he was doing. We value our freedom... but are we supposed to not give a crap about the freedom of others? I don't believe that. We're all humans who share this planet. A peaceful and free Iraq can be a positive symbol. The historical importance of that also has yet to be determined. But that's a whole 'nother issue that I am not going to make another comment on in these comments. This is already taking too damn much of my time.)
Anyway... improving healthcare is important. Giving it to everyone on my dollar is not right. That is unAmerican. Costs will skyrocket because usage of the system will grow exponentially. Quality of care will be rationed, it will be reduced. Do we as a nation, in order to give healthcare to everyone, reduce the level of care that others would like to have, that others can have if they want it and can pay for it? I'm not wealthy but if I want doctors to do everything they can, they will. That won't be true if the government's paying for things. Do we risk the lives of some so others can have their medical bills paid for while they sit at home drinking a liter of Coca Cola and eating a couple bags of Doritos everyday while watching their Flat Screen Plasma TVs?
The government should be stepping in to reduce the idiotic healthcare costs and helping make healthcare be more easily available -- but to tax the hell out of everyone and just give free healthcare to all citizens, that's purely unAmerican. Obama's said he won't tax the middle class. He might not directly do that. But if raises the cost of living, that's taxing the middle class... because it's a tax on everyday items. So maybe he'll force the wealthy to pay for the lower income people. That just ain't right. That's theft.
If I work hard and earn a lot of money, that's for me and my family and I should choose what to do with that money. The United States ain't a commune where we all share our paychecks. That's not what it would be anyway because lower income people will have everything given to them while those who make more foot the bill. I'm not working for my neighbor. I'm working for me. That's American.
I'm not a gun owner but many out there are and they're pissed off -- they don't want a Socialist States of America. People will only take it up the ass for so long before they rally and fight back. I'm not saying we're close to that but I sure do support people buying as many guns (legally) as they want and if a Revolution comes, I'll sure as hell support it.
"I sure do support people buying as many guns (legally) as they want and if a Revolution comes, I'll sure as hell support it." - I agree with you TOTALLY, COMPLETELY.
"Not everyone spent time to make up their own mind... some people let the media make up their mind for them." - yes. By the way, who swayed the voters in 2000 (that one gets an "*" because the Supreme Court actually appointed the President) and 2004? O'Reilly and Limbaugh...?
"We the people have some control over our elected officials. That's the way it's supposed to be." - I agree that it IS the way it's supposed to be. Unfortunately, WE THE PEOPLE for quite some time have been limited to choosing the lesser of two evils, and corporations/lobbyists select that slim field.
"What say do we have in any czar decisions?" - What say did way have in ANY of the decisions Cheney/Bush made during their terms? (And they ran with "A wartime President" can do whatever he deems appropriate. It could have been reason enough to start a war "Talk about a power grab!")
I didn't think you were a bigot, (I sincerely apologize if you took that as a shot. See, just like O'Reilly.) and I understood the reference - although that aspect seems to be overplayed by the people still waiting for Obama to be ousted over his faked birth certificate and for several states to secede.
"We can only tell the current Congress and the current president." - I hope you're emailing your representatives and posting to the White House site. (I am.)
"We value our freedom... but are we supposed to not give a crap about the freedom of others?" - I do NOT believe for a fraction of one second that the war the U.S. started in Iraq had ANYTHING to do with freedom. (Except the "excuse" and operation's name were later changed to include "Freedom".)
Healthcare - "Giving it to everyone on my dollar is not right." Nor is making connected, no-bid contractors obscenely wealthy on my dollar. (I'd rather see it go toward healthcare.) Assuming "Costs will skyrocket because usage of the system will grow exponentially. Quality of care will be rationed, it will be reduced." and "reduce the level of care that others would like to have, that others can have if they want it and can pay for it" are not necessarily true - there are ways to make this work. It works in a few European countries. There are workarounds (but, the healthcare and insurance industries don't want to lose the extremely profitable game they've been playing). The government could provide a suitable package to ALL CITIZENS, and those who would like additional coverage could buy it. This would eliminate the burden of the cost of healthcare benefits to employers who provide them, helping the ecomony/business.
We've discussed it before - the wealthy should start paying their fair share of tax revenue. That would be right. And it would not be theft.
Enjoy your weekend.
