Freaky Run

The mainstream media couldn't be more in the bag for President Obama... still. It's absolutely fascinating that the New York Times didn't have anything on their front page today about yesterday's tea party protests. EVERY SINGLE STATE they occurred in. That's how many at last count? 50? Perhaps 250,000 people took part. From corner to corner, ocean to ocean, it could potentially be as high as 500,000. My point here isn't to take a side; agree with the protests or not, what happened is news. That's BIG news. Yet the New York Times decided it simply wasn't important. Not only them: "news" anchors and correspondents on MSNBC and CNN actually denigrated those who took part. Wait. I'm not talking about ideologues like Olbermann who believe conservative thinking should be banished from this land, I'm talking about legitimate news correspondents who are not supposed to give their personal opinions on news stories they are covering; just the damn facts. But no, not for something like what went on yesterday. Many of these people in the news think along the lines of: Dissent against the government, against those who are in power now? How DARE they protest our government?! How DARE they! Our government is looking out for us, they're doing what's right for us, with every stroke of the pen in Washington, with every vote they make on Capitol Hill, with every dollar spent, they are doing great things for the American people and, equally important, for the worldwide opinion of America. Why would anyone in their right mind question and/or criticize our politicians who are finally able to steer our nation in the right direction???? Dissenting fools. What morons. What stoopid stoopid pathetic people. Right?

NO WRONG!!!!

Mayhaps you're gonna disagree with dissent... but if you want to be respected in your opinions, then respect theirs, you fucking twit ass dipshits.

The North Face trail running shoe -- good for use in the Appalachian Mountains ... but seriously, they are rather small compared to the Rocky Mountains ... Sierra Nevada are sweet, too. Would definitely use 'em in the Alps, that's for sure. One thing's for sure -- Jerry Garcia or Bob Weir or Phil Lesh or Blaise Compaoré probably never went running in Liberia, Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Probably the same with Brent Mydland. At least that's my gut feeling. I could be wrong. I mean, there were a lot of drugs at Grateful Dead shows and the good Lord above, He knows I did my share!

3 Days Since My Last Run

Noon - 68° - super sunny

Not a bad run even though it was a lot warmer than I prefer. I've really got to stick with running in the early a.m. Added a whole, well, 3/4 of a minute which is a LOT more than I am used to adding. I'm shaking my head now 'cause I don't know why the heck I ever backed down from about 26 minutes to 21 or so. That was stoopid. But I'm working my way back up so that's good. Three more runs in April and I'll have eclipsed March and that's also good. One o' these freakin' days I'll get into more serious running. For now this is better than nothing.

Alright, I'm not sure what to make of this album. Supposedly it was not only a flop but a flop that made the Violent Femmes decide that they will never record another studio album again. It's not that bad. Well... some of it isn't that bad. It's a mixed bag of different styles ranging from a classic Femmes first album sound to practically all out punk. But some of the songs are oddly out of place or just kinda dumb. I don't know. I liked it just fine for running, it distracted me well enough, but I'm not sure I'm gonna ever listen to this again... maybe, though.

minor milestone

Is 11 minutes significant? I'm not sure. Considering I'm sort of trying to be able to run a marathon in about, oh, 4 hours . . . 11 minutes is a loooooooonng way away. Considering I'm running four to five times a week, this is indeed a significant mark. Each run isn't cake but I'm not completely dying. After each run I nearly suffer for a minute or so but I'm so glad that I haven't quit this, that I'm keeping it up. I don't have to do this. I'm not a runner. Not at all. But I run because it's right in order for me to be a healthier human being.

What a great hour+ of music! It's been years since I've heard that whole Femmes album. Esta mucho classico! Just like with watching horrible movies and then watching a great one completely makes up for those that are pure blah, listening to so much mediocre music is all made up for with one great playlist like this one.

one says one number and the other another
but they were set at the same time. Hmmm...

i love you amy uzarski. always!
