Sox Suck! / Duck Hunts Bear?!

Chicago White SUX - Go, Cubs, Go!No music today...
wayyyyy too busy celebrating
the Cubs victory this afternoon... late inning back-to-back homers got 'em back in the game, and then a run in the Bottom of the 9th gave 'em the W over the hated southside Sox. A sweet win for Sweet Lou!

But that's not actually why there's no music today. I'm a Mets fan! But my dad's from Lake Forest, IL, on Chicago's north side, so I've come to dig the Cubs over the years. Them bein' on WGN like 3 or 4 times a week really helps, too. Oh, and the Mets SUCKING also helps. I can't give up my allegiance to The Amazin's but seein' as how they haven't won a World Series in 100½ years, ain't no harm cheerin' Da Cubz on.

Go, Cubs, Go!
Go, Cubs, Go!
Hey, Chicago, whaddya say,
Cubs are gonna win today!

"So long, Screwy! See ya in St. Louie!"

Saturday Morning Cartoon Time!

Here's one of several Looney Tunes shorts deemed rather offensive to some overly sensitive people.

One time I saw a cartoon where grease was slathered all over a tree so that a bear couldn't climb up it. I was offended that the tree was being killed by the grease AND that the bear was not given a fair chance to escape. A double offense!! That one was never banned.

Basically people've gotta lighten up. Anything can offend anyone. If we go banning everything that offends someone, we'll be left to live in an empty vacuum.

Da Bears, Da Bulls, Da Cubs, Da Hawks, Da Bugs

Oi. I had every intention to get a good run in today. I was ready, I felt good, I was eager, I really wanted to start the new month off, right from Day 1, with a run that would set me in motion to have a better month than last. Oh well. So much for 2009 -- all crapped up and it's not even January 2nd already.

There was just no way I could run -- I woke up late and the
Cartoon Network had a Looney Tunes marathon on that still has an hour and a half to go!!! Looney Tunes! Best stuff on Earth, man!!

Here's one that was on, if you're interested...

Release Date: June 25, 1949

2009 NHL Winter Classic logo - Wrigley FieldAnd then in the middle of the Looney Tunes marathon, there's this hockey game on... outside... in Wrigley Field! Wrigley Field!! Silly people (like Sugarmag) were watchin' little girls play something called college football but there was this once-a-year hockey game on!! In Wrigley Field! (That's a baseball stadium! The Cubs play there. Cubs? Ryne Sandberg, Harry Carey, Steve Bartman? Ring a bell yet? Ahh, nevermind.)

The NHL Winter Classic (with some stupid corporate name that I'm not going to type) had the hometown Chicago Blackhawks against the Detroit Red Wings. Bein' from NORTH Jersey and all I'm a New Devils Devils fan but this was a must-see game.

NHL Winter Classic Wrigley Field, Chicago January 1, 2009

That's normally a baseball field! HA!! So cool.

NHL Winter Classic Wrigley Field, Jan 1, 2009

Anyway... a run-less day when I wanted a run, a music-less day when I also wanted to post music -- but with the Winter Classic and Looney Tunes all day, what am I do?!?! There's always tomorrow...

Onward to a New Decade...

Grateful Dead Steal Your Face Looking to see if a new Grateful Dead show has been posted ? There should be something put up later tonight and then a New Year's Eve show tomorrow...

...but for now check out the cartoon! Once upon a time, they used to show these before movies in the theater, you know, not just on Saturday morning. The cartoon was the warm-up act. So in this case, this Merrie Melodies short is the warm-up act for the Show To Be Posted Later! Yeah? Get it? Yeah!? Enjoy!!

the last Warner Brothers short of the 1930's...

So Tired Saturday

100 Days of the Grateful Dead will finish off 2008 with some good stuff so everybody stay tuned! -- Zoooma needs a nap.

So badly I wanted to run today. I had a Running Play List ready but I can barely keep my eyes open. Being up all night then getting only about 5 hours sleep can do that. On the trail, all I'd want to do is quit my run and lay down. It would've been a colossal failure. My needed exercise will have to wait until tomorrow.

No tunes today. Well, I am gonna listen to what I'm gonna post up tomorrow and the next day but no download on this last Saturday of the year / Day 96 of 100 Days of the Dead. Hopefully Sugarmag and I will finish off the last 4 days strongly with something to please everyone.

Got any requests for 2009??? Yeah, yeah, more '77, I know. Besides that. If anyone's lookin' for a specific show or somethin' or whatever, anything within the Dead Family (all side projects included including after '95) don't be afraid to ask! Always happy to help!!

In the meantime -- have a lookie at this stuff...
