Running with Jerry's Drummer

Yada yada yada, socialism sucks, government bloating sucks, politics sucks, politicians who want to waste taxpayer dollars suck, politicians who don't believe they're wasting our money suck, but those politicians who do not vote for the Government Expansion Non-Stimulus Bill are Heroes. Basically all that matters in the world right now: beer.

Norrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmm!!!!!

Exercise is needed.

I got mine. You?

The North Face trail running shoe -- good for use in the Appalachian Mountains ... but seriously, they are rather small compared to the Rocky Mountains ... Sierra Nevada are sweet, too. Would definitely use 'em in the Alps, that's for sure. One thing's for sure -- Jerry Garcia or Bob Weir or Phil Lesh or Blaise Compaoré probably never went running in Liberia, Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Probably the same with Brent Mydland. At least that's my gut feeling. I could be wrong. I mean, there were a lot of drugs at Grateful Dead shows and the good Lord above, He knows I did my share!

Even though I had a tremendous desire to top my December running time, I was NOT looking forward to today's run; I was just too tired. Not enough good sleep last night plus some sort of mysterious pain related to (or just near?) my right Achilles tendon had me wanting to just stay home and say Screw It. I got myself to go, though. Since I was a little unsure about this final January outing, I knocked my Running Time down significantly as well as depressingly. I do not like taking off time -- only supposed to be going FORWARD, adding MORE time. Ay caramba. Oh well. However, in the interest of thinking positively about this -- I got it done. I'm beat up (or so I feel) and I think I never want to run again (even though I know I will.) This is so important; I positively abso-freakin-lutely do NOT want to be an unhealthy and severely overweight human being. NO! So I run.

Onward to February and not just 3 hours but FOUR! (Hopefully.)

Wow, I really don't like old Billy Joel all that much. This album bored the crap out of me. Well, maybe not that much but enough. Los Angelenos is maybe the only truly good song on here. Everything else is fluff. He's a great piano player but the dude doesn't rock on this album, not like he did years later.

There's a connection to the Grateful Dead here... sort of, Jerry Garcia really. Streetlife Serenade was recorded in 1974 and in the same year Ron Tutt played drums on Jerry's "Compliments" album. The following January, Tutt would begin Playing In The Band in Legion Of Mary and the JGB for 2½ years.

Even Billy Joel says that 'Streetlife Serenade' is not a good album. Columbia was in a big hurry for him to put out a follow-up to the 'Pianp Man' album and he just didn't have enough good new material ready. He still regrets this one. In his concert performances he tells the audience - "don't buy it, it sucks".

one says one number and the other another
but they were set at the same time. Hmmm...

i love you amy uzarski. always!
