A Two Night Jerry Run to Soothe My Soul

Hey now! A couple of things. First of all, I accidentally fucked up Zoooma's blogroll. Yeah, I'm not really very good at this stuff and I'm sort of making it up as I go along, and it is too easy to fuck something up. I'm a bull in a china shop over here, I'm a tellin' you. So, I'm trying to fix it, problem is, I don't know how he made the list, and I don't remember what was on it. Crap. I'm trying to reconstruct it but it's kind of like a broken teapot that is taped back together with lots of small pieces missing. It makes me think of a Sesame Street book my kids have, it's called "Bert and the Broken Teapot." Bert is helping out in the store and he accidentally breaks a teapot, and he feels really bad and he tries to fix it, but the pieces are too small, so then he finally tells the store owner (who's name I can't remember) what happened, and the store owner says, "That's ok Bert, your friendship is more important than my teapot."

Well anyway, I'm still at the taping the pieces together stage, so help me out, would ya'? What was in Zoooma's blogroll? I am working on a list but I don't remember them all. If you can think of any, please help me out and put them in comments.

I was feeling uninspired so I started listening to a little Jerry Garcia Band. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have this music to soothe my soul. Listening to Jerry and the Grateful Dead is not just something I like, it's something I NEED. Check this out:

I've listened to both of these shows a couple of times over the last couple of days. Right now I'm groovin' to Mystery Train from the second night. This is a song I'm less familiar with but I really dig it. I love Jerry sooo much! Listening to this music feels so good. I went back to the Mystery Train from the first night and I think it was even better. Jerry was tearing it up, I tell you.

You'll notice that there were quite a few songs that were played on both nights, but I dig having both shows anyway. My favorite song from the first night is Don't Let Go. It's one of my favorites because it's so much fun to sing along to..."Ooh we! This feelin's killin' me, Oh shucks! I wouldn't stop for a millions bucks. I love you so! Just hold me tight and don't let go!" I think this is the best Don't Let Go I've ever heard, it's 27 minutes long because it has a really long jam that puts a smile on this old Deadhead's face. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down is nice, too. It's such a beautiful and melancholy song.

From the second night (7-30-77), I really dig The Way You Do the Things You Do. I just realized that the reason I wrote that I dig it is because I happen to be listening to it right now. Ok so I guess what that really means is that it's all good. If I press play I'm going to tell you it's good. There is nothing that's not good-it's Jerry Garcia! It's 1977! Dig it. Let Me Roll It was only played on the second night and I don't think I had heard it before. I actually didn't like it as much as so many of Jerry's other songs, maybe that's why they didn't play it as much as say, Don't Let Go or Tore Up Over You. Tore Up Over You was really good in the second set of the second night but I don't know if it was better than the first night, I'd have to go back and listen again. I really like Tangled Up In Blue. I don't know, I'm thinkin' the first night is better. What do you think?
