This darkness got to give...

100 Days of the Dead -- Day 47

We're takin' a break today to remember Soph-a-loaf.

Sugarmag took such good care of Sophie,
gave her a home, gave her a good life.

What a sweet dog she was. She won't be forgotten.

I know how hard it is, two months ago I lost my dog, Cassidy.

For so many of us, they're not just dogs, they're family.

Pain and sadness diminish over time,
but as long as we always remember, they'll never be gone.

So long, Sophie.

Sophie

Dear Nazz, Kwizgiver, Paticus, and Nancy, Thank you! I am very sad about Sophie, but you know what? I feel good because I adopted Sophie from an animal shelter and I gave her 10 good years. She had been returned to my local animal shelter by people who had adopted her and the shelter was full-she would have been euthanized by the end of the day. Animal shelters are sometimes stretched to their limits and people who work there take dogs home but they can only do so much. So I said I would foster her and of course I kept her. She was a wonderful dog.

The joy of having a dog in my life is so much more than the sadness when they die. I still have my other dog and after that? I will have many more dogs in my life because I am a person who needs a dog.

Thinking about getting a dog? Don't pay a breeder a lot of money, go to your local Humane Society and pick one. There are so many wonderful dogs that need homes.
