Just another run...

Sinus pressure is killing me today. Over-the-counter medication just ain't helping. I need some vicodin. Oi.

All I'm a-gonna do is Play Dead.

But earlier, this was important...
The North Face trail running shoe -- good for use in the Appalachian Mountains ... but seriously, they are rather small compared to the Rocky Mountains ... Sierra Nevada are sweet, too. Would definitely use 'em in the Alps, that's for sure. One thing's for sure -- Jerry Garcia or Bob Weir or Phil Lesh or Blaise Compaoré probably never went running in Liberia, Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Probably the same with Brent Mydland. At least that's my gut feeling. I could be wrong. I mean, there were a lot of drugs at Grateful Dead shows and the good Lord above, He knows I did my share!

I busted my butt today on this run. Yet another Record time for me but it wasn't easy. The reason being my sinuses hurt and I've been constantly sniffly all day long. My body held up just fine. There may have been some fatigue near the end but I pushed on. When I hit my End Cue, all I wanted to do was stop, hunch over with hands on knees, and rest. I walked, though, keeping myself moving but slower, turned around and hiked back. When I want to stop like that, I know my body wasn't entirely happy with what I just did. Fortunately, the smarter side of me knew what I had just done (running for 25 minutes) was the RIGHT thing to do for my health. That fact's not very comforting until later on, though. I made it just fine (mostly,) increased my time (even only by a little,) and I'm glad I got out there!

It's been quite awhile since I've listened to New Order... a decade even? Had an album or two of their back in olden days. This never-ending addiction of 99.9% of the time having a new album for running has led me back to them.

Hailing from the great music city of Manchester (I ain't talkin' New Hampshire here!) New Order became known for a dancing techno-y club-sorta synth Pretty In Pink sound. Before that they had a darker (like what's here) post-punk-ish sound kinda like Bauhaus or Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cure or Love & Rockets, maybe The Church or The Smiths or Joy Division, etc. A whole bands that New Order (and early New Order) could be lumped in with. And just 'cause you're lumping 'em in, that doesn't mean they're bad! This is some great music!

Joy Division? Huh, speaking of Joy Division, that's what this band is! Sort of. New Order was born from the lead singer of Joy Division's suicide. Had it not been for that, the world might not be spinning right now. Okay, well, at least we can say New Order may never have been. Mayhaps Joy Division just woulda gone on to become like New Order became.

Yeah, something like that. In any case -- this is a great album and I'm, once again (like I am with most music I press play on,) glad I gave it a listen. Am looking forward to eventually pressing play on their next album.
