tax, spend, run

Today is Friday. I believe I am finally up-to-date here. It's freakin' December. Holy cow. Christmas is gonna be here in like a few days. Well, not that soon but it's gonna fly by. Santa's elves are getting everything done, I trust. I wonder if Santa hires illegal immigrants and pays them a dollar an hour. Bastard!

Time is seriously gonna zip right by and it'll soon be 2009 and the long, sad, horrible 4 years is going to begin in earnest. Tax and spend.
Redistribute wealth. Tax and spend. Waste more of our money. The American citizenry had the chance to elect a man who decided it was NOT good to waste the taxpayer's money, a man who wanted those who succeeded to not be punished for succeeding; he wanted them to be able to keep MUCH of the money they earn. The People decided to elect the other guy. Boggles my mind. Then again, if I was poor I'd probably be supporting taking from the rich to give to me and I'd have voted for the man who will do that. Why bust your butt when you can be given what you need in this world?! Right?!

What also boggles my mind is how I can't ignore this stuff. Why can't I be one of those ignorant Americans who just goes about his or her selfish life not caring about nuttin' but themselves?! Nope, not that simple. Too much matters. I kinda wish I could just keep my mouth shut but give me a platform and my mouth shall not remain silent.

Anyway... today I ran. Do you exercise? Why not? Are you paralyzed? If you are, I'm sorry. But if you're an able-bodied human being, why don't you exercise? You don't have time, right? Your health isn't that important? That's not true and if your doctor ever tells you something's wrong with you that could possibly have been prevented with some exercise, you're gonna go -- D'OH! So go... exercise! You'll feel better!!
The North Face trail running shoe -- good for use in the Appalachian Mountains ... but seriously, they are rather small compared to the Rocky Mountains ... Sierra Nevada are sweet, too. Would definitely use 'em in the Alps, that's for sure. One thing's for sure -- Jerry Garcia or Bob Weir or Phil Lesh or Blaise Compaoré probably never went running in Liberia, Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Probably the same with Brent Mydland. At least that's my gut feeling. I could be wrong. I mean, there were a lot of drugs at Grateful Dead shows and the good Lord above, He knows I did my share!

This run was weird. Firstly -- tis pretty warm for December. Last December I was running indoors and it was warmer... but that was indoors. Something about 60 in December just ain't right. It had no affect on me negatively so I don't even know why I'm mentioning it.

Why was it weird then? I was tired and the music made me want to run FASTER. That's not a good combo. Why isn't it a good combo? I had to constantly keep myself in check rather than more naturally flow with the music when the Beats Per Minute is close to being what I want to run. Usually my music isn't Jerry Garcia's guitar lighting on fire making me want to go faster. GREAT music to run to but I wasn't prepared for it. I was just too tired. I almost didn't even do this run I was that tired. But laziness did NOT prevail plus I don't want diabetes, thank you. MUST RUN!!!!! Why not be a healthier human being?! BE HEALTHIER -- EXERCISE!!!!

So I turned around at a spot that's roughly halfway through a run of this length and since my time wasn't as long as it had been, I had a short distance to walk back. In 60 degree weather I was sweating pretty profusely. Fortunately this temperature isn't high enough to suck the life out of me and cause me to not be able to run this long... but it is high enough to make me feel quite warm out there. Ya know? Sugarmag, you readin' this? Just wondering.

Anyway... the run went okay despite having to constantly slow down because Jerry's guitar made me gradually speed up several times. I guess that happens at times with other music. I'm also not so sure this is great running music for me. Great music -- yes. Great for running? Not sure. Why? 3-6 minute songs with a lot happening is better. While the Jerry Garcia Band is such sweet music to me, there's sometimes not a whole lot of music happening. Hard to explain.

Anyway.... I'm so tired now. Showered, clean, and I could probably fall asleep in a heartbeat. Body feels okay. Lookin' forward to my next run, hopefully in the next two days.

Why did you vote for McCain? That's what you said. But then again you ALSO said you're a minor. What to believe with you? No one can know.

Hey Sweetie! Am I reading this? What do you think? Yesterday was a weird busy day with my car not starting and stranding me at the vet's-stuck sitting in my cold car with my dog for over an hour. I was so cold! And I forgot my gloves! I was so glad to have my dog to put my hands on, I put my hands on his belly and he did not seem to mind. After I got home I drank lots of tea and it took me a few hours to really get warm. Then my kids came home and I had to hang out with them, then got them to bed and it was late and then I talked to you, so I did not have time to really read your post until today. But I always read what you write. Always. And hey, glad you ran, because I would not want you to get diabetes and also, for the stamina :).
