Yeah Yeah Yeah, I finally ran

Just a run...
The North Face trail running shoe -- good for use in the Appalachian Mountains ... but seriously, they are rather small compared to the Rocky Mountains ... Sierra Nevada are sweet, too. Would definitely use 'em in the Alps, that's for sure. One thing's for sure -- Jerry Garcia or Bob Weir or Phil Lesh or Blaise Compaoré probably never went running in Liberia, Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Probably the same with Brent Mydland. At least that's my gut feeling. I could be wrong. I mean, there were a lot of drugs at Grateful Dead shows and the good Lord above, He knows I did my share!

I am a pathetic person. Reason: it's been 8 days since my last run. That's wrong. That's not good. It's like I don't care about my health. I know, though, I know, I know, I know that's not true since I hit the trail today for a run. I'm just pissed off at myself that it took so long.

It was nicely chilly but a little below the comfort level for wearing a short-sleeve shirt. Oh well. Coulda been worse, not like I froze or nothin'.

Not having run in over a week, I was a little worried about being able to run for 25 minutes... so I kept my Playlist down a little. This blows because now I've gotta work back up to 25 and beyond. That sucks but I kinda had to -- I didn't want to fail. I didn't want to start my run and decide along the way that almost 26 minutes was too much and then just quit. Talk about things that woulda sucked. So I reduced my time by a few minutes. In my mind that's not too bad.

It wasn't an easy run. My thighs (quads) were aching within just a couple minutes but that seemed to vanish just as quickly as the aches began. I was tired, though, really tired as I neared the end. I had turned around at a spot I knew would be about halfway so that I could finish up closer to home without having to hike really far back. By the time I returned to the start of the trail, I was dead freakin' tired -- full stop, hands on knees, mildly gasping for air. Within seconds I began my slow walk off the trail and back to the house but for a moment, all I wanted to do was lay on the ground and die. Oi.

Why do I torture myself? Waterboarding? Make prisoners have to run!

Apparently this is thought of as one of the best albums of 2003. Interesting. I'm not sure I had even heard of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs until I acquired this album. That's a perfect example of how into current music I'm not. Often I dig artists from this millennium just fine... I just don't read Rolling Stone or nothin' to keep on top of who's big now. Maybe I'll discover them someday and that's cool with me.

Someday finally came for this band and this is a pretty good album! Since I'm not a music critic nor do I have any interest in critiquing music, I'm just gonna say I dig a lot of the tunes on here. There are elements of U2, Siouxsie & The Banshees and plenty more bands if I put my mind to really comparing. A few of the songs are kinda mellower "alternative" rock while some verge on louder, heavier, faster, almost punkish sound. I think I dig Y Control the most. Why? I dunno, I just do. I can definitely see myself listening to this in the future.

Hi Rex.

Why do you keep coming to this blog?

Day after day...

and often several times a day.

You're checking these comments to see what your ex-wife may have said? Why? It's not healthy and your visits serve no purpose. Nothing here has any bearing on your life. Delete the bookmark, man. Give it a rest.
