Today's another day. A day to look forward to what's wanted and what will be.
It's gonna be grossly warm today; I might clear out the freezer and crawl inside in an attempt to simulate what December should be.
Oh well.

I wasn't in the mood for running, not at all. It was what I needed to do. So I got it done.
Knowing the weather is supposed to be disgustingly into the mid-70's, I thought why not try for a morning run when it'll be much cooler. Twasn't cold like I would've liked a lot more ... but it was nice. There's something I like a lot about running when there's plenty of light to see but the sun isn't above the horizon yet. No need for sunglasses is good. Only problem with running with sunglasses is sweat dripping onto the lenses and distorting vision. Ugh. So early early morning and evening eliminates that problem.
Unfortunately, there's an almost worse problem with running in the morning on a trail that has some grass on it in places as well as some weeds -- Morning Dew. Not good in this case. Shoes got nearly completely soaked. I knew it would happen but I decided to give it a go anyway. While my feet got a little wet, I'm still glad I went for the run. And due to the cooler temperature, I felt pretty good to add over a minute to my Running Time. Purty sweet and I made it without any desire to QUIT! QUIT! QUIT! which I am often faced with and need to beat down with a stick as I near my Finish Cue. Not this morning. Nope, this morning I was not only eager to get this run in but maybe could kept going longer, too. Nice!

Wow, I love this album. Most of it. Mostly love it. Not all of it. A lot. It's great but not GREAT. And I wonder how long I can talk about The Wallflower without mentioning Bob Dylan. D'OH! What does Bob Dylan have to do with The Wallflowers? Well, if you don't know, Jakob Dykan, lead singer here, is Bob's son. Jakob ain't no Bob, though.
Long time ago I somehow acquired a Wallflower promotional cassette with 4 songs on it, all from this album. I don't know if it was before this release or shortly afterwards to help get people interested. The cassette was free, I know that but how? Twas before internet and I've been wracking my brain to remember... not that it matters but maybe it was an ad in Rolling Stone. I really can't imagine how else.
Anyway, four songs I knew from this album but everything else was new to me. I'm not sure if the four I knew are the ones I like best because I knew them or because they are the best. Then again, best is completely subjective when it comes to art, right? Bottomline is there's a lot of good music here. Bob Dylan influence? Not really. More like Neil Young at times. Some of these songs are long like Neil might do. Some of the lyrics might be a little Bob Dylan-like, though. What I really love is the bass at times, really thumpin' and the rhythm guitarwork alongside the other lead guitar. Such an incredible sound, so well put together. There's a good mix of faster tunes with a lot of slow, folky numbers. Rearrange the songs and it'll make a great driving mix for somewhere like South Dakota... or Oklahoma. No, this isn't country-ish, just laid back like the country miles ahead.

I always enjoyed the Wallflowers but never bought their stuff. Not sure why. I like the fact that young Dylan didn't push his name over top of his bandmates. Classy.
