A Canadian Western?

Northwest Stampede (1948)

Can a movie that takes place post-WWII and involves the Calgary Stampede be called a western? No. Just no. No way. A Canadian movie cannot be called a western no matter what. Sorry, eh.

A film shot in the great outdoors of western Canada can surely be beautiful to look at and this one absolutely indeedy is! Wow!

When a gallavanting rodeo star learns that his father has passed away, he returns home to the ranch he left years ago. To sell or stay? Of course a girl changes the outcome. Along the way the viewer is treated to the majesty of Banff National Park and the gorgeous Canadian Rocky Mountains.

There isn't a whole lot of substance to Northwest Stampede but it works. It's enjoyable enough and the scenery makes it completely worth it!!!
