Six Turkey Red Hot Run

Just my run from last night.

Spotted six wild turkeys on the trail. As I made my approach to where I stop to stretch for a few minutes, they saw me headed their way and ducked into the woods.

Next time I bring a shotgun.

If they read this then maybe they'll save their butts.

If not -- "Mmmm, that was a great turkey club sandwich!!"

The North Face trail running shoe -- good for use in the Appalachian Mountains ... but seriously, they are rather small compared to the Rocky Mountains ... Sierra Nevada are sweet, too. Would definitely use 'em in the Alps, that's for sure. One thing's for sure -- Jerry Garcia or Bob Weir or Phil Lesh or Blaise Compaoré probably never went running in Liberia, Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Probably the same with Brent Mydland. At least that's my gut feeling. I could be wrong. I mean, there were a lot of drugs at Grateful Dead shows and the good Lord above, He knows I did my share!

Wanted to run. Didn't want to run. Had the opportunity. Took it. Am glad I did 'cause it was great to be out there. The temp all day had me disgusted at this place called The South ... but thanks to low humidity and the sun sinking below the trees, twasn't too bad out there. Made my time straight through 5 songs without turning around to finish up at my Gatorade like usual. Nope. Kept heading away, away, away then hiked all the way back. Felt good to be out there. A little tired when I got back but totally worth it.

Yet again in this life, I've let great music, or, well, a great band go for far too long without listening to any. I've been diggin' the Chili Peppers for quite awhile, goin' way back in time to before they made it big on the national music scene. The Uplift Mofo Party Plan was my first album of theirs... and, okay, maybe that wasn't too far ahead of Mother's Milk but it was before Mother's Milk. Then the Chili Peppers made it big with... Mother's Milk. They've only gotten better since then.

This debut album, though -- eh. It's ancient and at times doesn't even sound like them. Maybe. Maybe not. I've only listened a few times but I'll gonna hang onto it and try to dig it some more.

Some advice...
Never go for a jog with a shotgun.
