Finally a day when the severely hot temperatures (90° +) are not present here in the South Carolina Lowcountry. Holy freakin' crap, what horrendous weather there usually is in the summertime. It's technically still summer and so when the high temp is only 76°, that's pretty nice -- a relief.
And when the temperature is so low it makes it easier for me to run. Today's run was a breeze and a half. As I neared my End Cue, I knew I could keep running. With wicked hot temps, that practically never the case. Hopefully there won't be any more 90's and I can begin to get back to running 20+ minutes every time out. We'll see, I guess.
An album for running on Wednesday...
Dire Straits Brothers In Arms 1985
So Far Away Money For Nothing Walk Of Life Your Latest Trick Why Worry? Ride Across The River This Man's Too Strong One World Brothers In Arms |
And also once upon a time I had this album along with a Greatest Hits collection of theirs. Good stuff that I always dug listening to. It's fascinating, though, how bands can come and go even after so much success. After Money For Nothing and Walk of Life, the Dire Straits just weren't big again here in the United States. Why? Beats me. Doesn't matter, I guess.
First time I've heard these songs in just about forever and after all these years it's still a pretty cool listen.

I want my, I want my, I want my MTV....
Don't you remember "Sultans of Swing"? That was a huge hit in '79. And "Skateaway" followed in 1980. Then there was "Industrial Disease" in 1983 or so, and also "Twistin' by the Pool" in 84. They were pretty big, at least where I lived in New England.
Glad to meet a fellow Deadhead. ;)
