Same Old Ranchers v. Farmers

Cowboys From Texas
(1939)

Teddy Roosevelt signed the Reclamation Act of 1902 in order to establish irrigation projects across the western United States, helping arid lands become useful for agriculture. In 1906 Texas was added. That all is true. Here in this fictional B-western from Republic Pictures, in one small part of the state, a rancher wants all the nearby land for his precious beef. Of course that means using all means possible to make sure he gets what he wants. So long as he's the biggest cattle guy in the county, no land will become irrigated for farmers if he has his way.

But have no fear, The Three Mesquiteers are here! Robert Livingston stars as Mesquiteer Stony Brooke, who joins up with the bad guys in order to find out who the ringleader is. Once again, it's the same ol' song and dance with nothing special to add. B-westerns are often like that so one's just gotta kick back and try to enjoy the mindless 55 minutes of (hopefully) entertaining barfights, shootouts and stagecoach holdups. Unfortunately the entertainment here in this film isn't all that great but on the bright side, there are hundreds of worse hourlong B-westerns out there.
