Post Post Run Post... or First Run In June

So that's it? Obama will officially be the nominee? At work I didn't watch the news all night, then pretty much immediately went running. I thought I heard it's not official official until the Convention. It would essentially be official before then if there's only one person standing after someone drops out... and that's Hillary, right?

And this makes sense? After all, she had MORE PEOPLE vote for her. She was winning. I know this isn't technically a sport but when does the team with the lowest score win? Does it happen in football? Not that I can recall. In baseball? No. Basketball? Volleyball? Curling?? Cricket???

Okay, if that's the way it's gonna be in this country, we really need to stop WASTING tens of millions of dollars to have citizens cast their vote. That's just idiotic. The whole process was broken beforehand what with citizens of certain states (Florida and Michigan) not having any say... and other states (usually but not this year) quite possibly not mattering whatsoever because their primaries took place much later than everyone else.

I just don't get it.

The North Face trail running shoe -- good for use in the Appalachian Mountains ... but seriously, they are rather small compared to the Rocky Mountains ... Sierra Nevada are sweet, too. Would definitely use 'em in the Alps, that's for sure. One thing's for sure -- Jerry Garcia or Bob Weir or Phil Lesh or Blaise Compaoré probably never went running in Paraguay, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Probably the same with Brent Mydland. At least that's my gut feeling. I could be wrong. I mean, there were a lot of drugs at Grateful Dead shows and the good Lord above, He knows I did my share!56° and light rain when I left at 9:30pm

Good run! Very good run. I'm not exactly happy that for almost the entire first 3 days in June, running was non-existent... I slacked Big Time. Now I have to make up days. Swell, Greg Brady might say. Yes, just swell, I concur.

A little rainy all day today and after work, as well. That didn't stop me, though. Couldn't stop me... both indoor running tracks in Fairbanks have switched to Summer Hours -- finishing my shift at 9 p.m. is too late to run indoors. It'll be that way until September, I think. Swell. So outside in the rain. Okay, not that big of a deal, really no big whoop at all... I guess not even a little whoop. My running shoes are a little wet but hopefully they'll dry so I can run tomorrow night if I should want to... for a run in 48 hours they'll be fine, I'm sure.

Showered, resting...... yawning... looks like that'll complete the Swell trifecta. Best to get some sleep, I suppose.

I've heard a Paul Kelly
song or two in this life but recently was the very first time hearing a full album. From Melbourne by way of Adelaide, Kelly blends folky acoustic rock and alternative and the result is some sort of R.E.M.-ish-Dylan-ish-Elvis Costello-ish concoction of Aussie musical goodness.

Hi Zoooma, that is awesome that you ran anyway! I hope your shoes dry.

The caucuses in some states make things especially complicated and make it less clear who got more more votes. I won't argue that the system ain't broke, though.

she was NOT winning if you take into account all votes. Clinton was cherry picking and not including some caucuses. Go figure, a Clinton would try something underhanded.

It's incredible, the best the Dems can offer is one of the most polarizing women in the country (maybe Rosie O'Donnell would have been the only woman who is more hated (or Jane Fonda!) and a black guy with an arab name.
talk about political suicide!
And platform means Jack Straw, since half the country won't vote for Obama because they think he's a Muslim.

McCain scares the cr@p out of me.

Alright, I'll concede that I may have made a mistake... your comment, Nazz -- and as always thanks for yours, too Sugar Mag! -- made me do more research...

According to www.usaelectionpolls.com (if they are correct)

TOTAL (w/ FL&MI, w/caucuses)

13,460,645 - Obama
13,403,104 - Clinton

Kinda close but I guess Obama takes it not only with delegates but with voters, as well.

That's an amazingly close split.

Like 50.0001% to 49.9999 ?

Anyway... I'll say this about McCain -- he's never pushed through pork barrel spending, something that is year-in and year-out OUT OF CONTROL in this country. It's like a hobby for every Senator under the sun... except McCain.

Iran is probably building nuclear weapons and lying about it. They want to destroy Israel. McCain will not allow that GENOCIDE to occur. I believe in stepping in to help others, not letting them get wiped off the map.

That's just two things that stick out. Oh wait... there is the lower tax thing from McCain. I'll happily be labeled an anti-Socialist as I believe when you go to work, you should be able to KEEP as much of that hard-earned income as possible... and you should be able to spend it as you please, not be forced to turn it over through more taxes and then have no say in how it gets used.

Speaking of having no say -- pork barrel spending is a horrible example of that.

you shouldn't include Michigan since all candidates (clinton included) agreed not to run. than everyone took their names off EXCEPT for clinton. so the gap is wider.

and , courtesy of Move On:

10 things you should know about John McCain (but probably don't):

John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights laws.1

According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain "will make Cheney look like Gandhi."2

His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.3

McCain opposes a woman's right to choose. He said, "I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned."4

The Children's Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children's health care bill last year, then defended Bush's veto of the bill.5

He's one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a "second job" and skip their vacations.6

Many of McCain's fellow Republican senators say he's too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: "The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He's erratic. He's hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."7

McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.8

McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his "spiritual guide," Rod Parsley, believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church "the Antichrist" and a "false cult."9

He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year.10

Come on, Nazz... it's 100% impossible for Move On to say something positive about Bush or McCain or anything under the sun that's considered conservative. They wouldn't even be able to compliment a snappy looking suit... they'd absolutely have to slant it to make it sound evil, insane, wrong, bad, pathetic, dangerous, etc.

Move On is a propaganda hate machine.

I love it!!!!!! So now what exactly does that have to do with Obama vs. Clinton in 2008?!?!?!?!

What I was referring to is if in Game 7 the Lakers score 102 and the Celtics score 103, will the Lakers be awarded the NBA Championship? Ahhhhhh, NO!

I know, I know, the team with the lowest score won in 2000. Doesn't mean it was right.

And I'm still talkin' about the here and the damn now, not the damn yesterday. This country is extremely screwed up if people vote and then their votes didn't even fucking matter.

And howdy Anna! Yes, anyone who votes for McCain will be a racist! And those who voted for Obama are sexists. Lovely nation. Just lovely, ain't it?! Don't worry, there'll be more 3 ring circuses in the future.... cue Entry of the Gladiators... or would it sound more like the Benny Hill music?!

one says one number and the other another
but they were set at the same time. Hmmm...

i love you amy uzarski. always!
