Peace Through War

Warmonger? George W. Bush Part 2?

Or is he intelligent enough to know that sometimes
peace is achieved through war?

Regardless of whether one supports what he stands for or not, regardless of whether one believes in peace through war or not, regardless of whether one believes he brings peace or not, one has to admit - his voice is smooth.

I can't say that I agree that escalating troop numbers in Afghanistan is a good idea.

Zoooma,

Respectfully, I don't want to get mired in a heated political debate, nor am I fully versed in the political ramifications of the if/then possibilities involved.

I do believe that 9/11 was way deeper than any afghan Taliban holy war. I seem to recall most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi or had Saudi connections. Now I think the Taliban are some messed up dudes, I thought so when they destroyed those Buddha statues, and I thought so when I met and heard lecture, the author of Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini.

I'd like to see Chuck Norris, Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone, and Jules & Vincent go in there and mop up some monkey thumpers hit squad Delta Force style, but to send thousands of kids into a region that has been historically unconquerable is foolish.

And, BELIEVE IT OR NOT!, I don't want to get mired in a heated political debate, but, and I know that Zoooma isn't interested in reading it, but for anyone else:

Lefty - The URL you posted seems to have cut off. Please post again.

Lefty -- stop posting links from non-credible websites. Open-mindedness is reading/watching journalism/analysis from both sides of an issue. That journalism and analysis should come from people who are recognized on a daily basis as possibly having some credibility without being intolerant hatemongers...

... and no conspiracy theorist wackjobs.

This place will not be used to propagate idiocy such as Obama's War in Afghanistan has nothing to do with Muslim extremists who want to kill us or 9/11 was designed and accomplished by the U.S. government or that there is some group of people pulling the strings on everything that takes place across the globe.

Yes, our government lies and hides things but not to the extent you wish for that to be true. Take off the tin foil hat and step out into the sunlight. It's okay.

No more links from non-credible sites. Stop.

No more links from non-credible sites - the piece has 90-plus links (verifying source) to sites such as The Washington Post, The New Yorker, etc. - all the usual non-credible sites.

Also, I was responding to Sundar who requested "Please post again.", for what little that matters.

Yes, our government lies and hides things but not to the extent you wish for that to be true. -- absolutely NOT. I wish they didn't LIE to the extent that they DO.

As far as advice about tin foil hats, etc. - YOU have demonstarted repeatedly that you are the last person qualified to advise anyone in this area. Step out of the safe, naive dream world in which you live.

Enjoy your weekend.

My safe, naive dream world is the same world in which over 99% of America knows 9/11 was NOT carried out by the U.S. government therefore it is YOU who shouldn't be advising anyone as to what's what when it comes to what our government hides and lies about.

P.S. the link you posted is from a website that is practically on the same level as the Daily Kos or Huffington Post... it's pure slant without any journalistic integrity whatsoever. Hmmm... I wonder if they have a reporter in the White House Briefing Room everyday to ask questions. Yes? No? No. I didn't think so.

I am no fan of Huffington Post. But I'd take that any day over Fox News (which is a collection of super-whack jobs!).

Huffington Post: promotion of everything liberal and it's okay to demean everything that's on the other side. That's just wrong.

Fox News: Hannity's a true conservative, Becks's a libertarian, but neither wants to stifle the other side, they tell the truth, they don't call names and they don't think all those who think differently are pathetic human beings. Beck criticizes both sides and Hannity always has someone on to give voice to the opposing point of view. And that's just two hours of the day. All through all those other hours, there are Dems on the air to freely give their opinion on issues. Why don't so many people want to believe that's true? Fox allows Repubs to give their opinion and then Dems to give theirs. Equality.

Who gives opposing point of view on the Huffington Post?

The mindset of these two media outlets is completely different. Fox provides the public, without hatred, two sides of issues. Huff Post does not.

If you want just one side, that's sad.

one says one number and the other another
but they were set at the same time. Hmmm...

i love you amy uzarski. always!
