Nice work, Chief!

And rexb, if you read this -- howdy, new guy. for a long, long time I also disowned so much music from that time long ago. Nowadays with needing music for running to, about any album I'm open to so long as it's got a few tunes with a fairly fast pace to them... and Huey was a good one! Feel free to drop by anytime! Hopefully I'll have a good amount of GD & JGB posted in the next week.Zooomahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17112098438748527228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69713979202370211.post-11483999994399516712008-04-28T17:22:00.000-04:002008-04-28T17:22:00.000-04:00Huey did jam with the boys more than a couple of t...Huey did jam with the boys more than a couple of times - although the only one I heard was the 1988 benefit show with Suzanne Vega and way too many other guest stars. I think that's the one Bob was referring to in comment #1.

I have to admit that Sports was just about my favorite album at the time, although I was only a kid and pretty much disowned everything from that point in my life a few years later. Really though, it's not a bad piece of work - much better (and closer to rock-n-roll) than much of the stuff that tops the charts today.rexbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01163387213234484134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69713979202370211.post-32581210870014064212008-04-27T11:49:00.000-04:002008-04-27T11:49:00.000-04:00Bob, for the moment you're Bob The Info Man -- goo...Bob, for the moment you're Bob The Info Man -- good stuff there.

I was hoping to post a pic of Huey with the GD but couldn't find it... i know what book it's in (Blakesberg's) but I don't have a copy of that one to cut up and scan.

In the Grateful Dead Family Album there's a small shot of Weir with Huey Lewis, Bill Graham and a SF female politician (either Feinstein or Pelosi, I think) ... something to do with a benefit concert but I'm not sure which.

Anyway, I'll have to track down copies of the Bammies shows eventually.Zooomahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17112098438748527228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-69713979202370211.post-69498675972041941882008-04-27T08:38:00.000-04:002008-04-27T08:38:00.000-04:00Huey Lewis also joined the band for the Bammies in...Huey Lewis also joined the band for the Bammies in 1988 for Schoolgirl, Lovelight, and Long Tall Sally.

The Neville Brothers, Bobby, and Mickey played with Huey at the Bammies in 1986 on Iko Iko.

There was a big jam at the Fillmore in 1985 that included Weir, Kreutzmann, Cipollina, Casady, Greg Elmore, Gary Duncan, John Lee Hooker, Huey Lewis, Annie Sampson, Lydia Pense, Nick Gravenites, Buddy Miles)(also: Kanter-Balin-Casady Band w/ Dryden & Signe Anderson, Country Joe & the Fish, Sons Of Champlin w/ Lewis & B.Gibson & Freaky Horns.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
